Living - how do we define living?
It is not:
Quiet, play it safe day to day existence
Red-faced, angry defiance to the world at play
Living is:
Resilient submission to the orders of the King
Joyful action in the midst of gloomy struggles
Intentional relationships of supernatural transformation (the precious of Jesus)
Mindset - Who are we living for?
Perseverance - How long should we live for?

Text: Gospel of Luke 12:35–40
Most people live their lives assuming tomorrow will come just like today.
We plan next week’s schedule.
We think about next year’s goals.
We make retirement plans for decades down the road.
But Jesus interrupts that comfortable assumption with a startling truth:
History is moving toward a moment.
A day is coming when Christ will return.
And when that day arrives, the most important question will not be:
How successful we were
How comfortable we lived
How admired we became
The question will be:
Were we ready when the Master came home?
In Gospel of Luke 12:35–40, Jesus paints a vivid picture. A master has gone away to a wedding feast, and his servants are left in the house waiting for his return.
They do not know when he will arrive.
It might be early.
It might be late in the night.
But their responsibility is clear:
Stay dressed for action. Keep the lamps burning. Be ready to open the door the moment he knocks.
Jesus is teaching His disciples something critical about the Christian life:
Faith is not just believing Jesus came once.
Faith is living every day like He could return at any moment.
That leads us to this truth that will guide our time in the passage:
The Christian life is living with the expectant mindset that Jesus is coming back.
And when we understand that truth, it shapes three things about our lives:
The pattern of our living
The perspective of our mindset
.The perseverance of our waiting
