But most of all thank you, Lord. That you're with your church that you see it through everything and be glorified in this, our Lord, our hearts a years, Keith. Would you come and begin to service with scripture and prayer, please?
Good morning.
With the with the announcement with Greg and Sushi physician, what they're planning to do last week. We're going to cover a different book today. Lord willing, we'll get back to 2nd Thessalonians chapter 1. I'm going to start anniversary, 15. He is the image of the invisible, God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him, all things were created both in the heavens and on Earth, visible and invisible. whether Thrones of dominions or rulers or authority is all things have been created through him and for him, He is before all things and in him all things, hold together. He is also the head of the body, the church. And he is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead. So that he himself will come to have first place and everything. It was the father's good pleasure for all the fullness to dwell in him. And through him to reconcile all things to himself. Having made peace through the blood of his cross. And through him, I say, what are things on earth or things in heaven? The closet chapter one. Verses 15 through 20. Scripture that I mean, Greg and I kind of charitable talk about little bit. If to know that Christ is the end of the first part where I get to hear the crater. Not the Creator. Being he is the Creator and he created all things for him for his glory.
The second thing is he is although they had the body, the church and he is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead. Think about this ever, no one has ever been people died. We know where we're going, but where's the land? And then and Abraham said, God will provide It got there and when I put it on the altar, so God provide its source. In our church today. This also I'm trying to us today with the changes come in Vegas. Uzi of enduring a new chapter in the life. We also are enjoying the new chapter in our life. Price of the head, he gives the direction, he kept the source, it is a spainer you will lead us through this. It would be different, but we will get through. And I've already truly believe will be strong. They will be stronger. They will have a new chance at life. It's okay to grieve. It ready is it's okay to grieve different. Wonderful. Pastor and Susie. Next Sunday afternoon. It's our turn to do the River. Walk worship service 3:30 in the afternoon and all are invited. We are so grateful for those who clean the church without any notice or attention. We do need to update our cleaning schedule. Those who volunteer. We asked them to take a month and we do need some fill-ins. Josh Brady is now in charge of the cleaning schedule and I'm going to embarrass him a little Josh. Can we all just look at you. Susie and I have enjoyed watching The Waltons. And if you're not familiar with it, they have a younger brother called Jim. Bob who's very mechanical. And he decides to build a car out of various spare parts. If I'm not mistaken out of various spare, parts of different kinds of cars, we have not yet gotten to the episode, but I remember from years ago watching where one day that car starts and it run, Jim Bob, put it all together, he took all those parts and somehow in this story the car runs. The Lord takes the spare parts. The broken part sometimes of those who love him, and he puts them all together. And the Bible says we know God, who is this? He's the gym pop in it. We know God causes all things to work together for good to them that love the Lord to those who are called according to his purpose. So we've given our lives to the purpose of Christ and we have the promise that is returned to the Lord. In all things, whatever it may be to be a change in leadership at a church that God is able to take all the parts and match them together and move forward down the road, glory to the Lord. You are the very fulfillment of our prayer for having you in our life, is more important than anything else. You're the one who makes it all work. And it all works. When we honor you and your word. May we personally Lord, keep you and view, May our hearts be listening for you for your prompt thing for the way. Your Holy Spirit, brings your word to mind and directs this May our gaze Lord be fixed. On your beauty. And on your Wonder.
Thank you that you're not going anywhere. But you're already. Everywhere. And father, we ask your continued Mercy for us. The Forgiveness of our sins, the grace of your spirit to lift us up. Lord, sometimes were broken grieving and hurt and yet we just push it all away and seek you and you lift us, thank you. we asked this morning for your comfort and help for Michelle and all of Rogers family and the city workers, Lord, and all who knew and that are genuinely grieving Thank you for him. We asked that same comfort of yours for Brian Bells. Loved ones. We pray strength and encouragement for Roy, Varney for his daughter. Debbie's treatments. Lord. For Pastor, Dave and Judy. grasp, I'm thinking of a little baby's hand, grasping for Mom or Dad's finger shortly after their born grasping for something, Grasp, how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ. and to know this love to know it personally that surpasses knowledge Way Beyond anything we can. No. It's, it's always there's always more that you made me feel to the measure of all the fullness of God.
Beautiful. Fellowship with the Lord himself to where our life is filled with his bonus. Now to him. Who is able to do? Somebody saved the next word? Immeasurably more. Then all we ask or imagine according to his power that is at work within us to him, be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever, amen.
Probably every two or three weeks. I remember a time when we were at a theme park and our small grandson Who was enraptured by the Disney movie Cars. Where a Lightning McQueen is a car that has a human personality and then there's a Mater and then there's Doc in these cars and trucks, all have personalities. He was enamored by the time and we were at the same park where, hopefully we were all counting on him being able to go on the ride with maybe, right? Right inside. Lightning McQueen through the mountains, you can do it. But you have to be a certain height and he barely was not tall enough. His dad wanted him to experience that so badly that he took our grandson away and stuffed his shoes with green x's, and cardboard. What's today, and napkins. And when we came back, he still was too short. But by this time, the ride owner-operator recognized. Some devious tricks going on and his dad knew I can't press this. Any further, his dad was so disappointed. A drink didn't measure up to be able to go on that ride. I am want to go on the ride. I get car sick. Going to Walla Walla. I can driving and I didn't want to be on it. So even though a drake, didn't quite measure up, the Lord was immeasurably. Good to me and a drink for the next hour or hour and a half. I had the funnest time with him, he was on my shoulders, we had something to eat, something to drink. We went on a couple little rides at probably every couple of weeks. I think, back to that time when even though a drink himself, didn't measure quite up. I don't believe. Either one of us was disappointed at all in the immeasurable blessing of God's love. Is we share time together? Friends, the Lord is in measurable, Beyond far beyond anything. We know. And our scripture reading started with the word now.
And that's where the Lord is a major bowl in the now. Right now. Right now, the the mercy that we need right now, the Forgiveness that we need, his immeasurable, in his ability to give it. Right now, the guidance right now to comfort right now, the sense of direction. Right now, the experience of the depth of his love is, we personally grasp it. Like a little baby grass babies. His mom, or his dad's hand right now, the Lord is immeasurable for you and me. I don't. Always get. His ways are higher than our ways. His thoughts are higher than our thoughts. I don't always get what the Lord's doing.
I always get the Lord.
He's always there. I don't have to know what he's doing. I just need to be close to him and walk with him. We don't always get what he's doing, but we always get him. We got him in that secret place, where we meet with him, we got it. When we pour our heart out to him, we got him when we're broken before him, we get it. When were praising him? He's driving the car. We just need to snuggle over to him. We always get the Lord. Our God is in heaven. The Bible says that he does, whatever he pleases. That's a scripture. Our God is in heaven, and he does whatever he pleases. So I'm not asking you this morning to give him permission for anything. I'm not asking you to make an allowance for him. He's in heaven. He does what he pleases. But with those things we don't understand that are sometimes, painful and difficult and hard. I do ask you as God's word does rely on him.
Rely on him. Let go and rely on him. We may not get what he's doing, but we always get him. If we tried to fit him into how we see things going, it would be like a Taylor tried to put a suit on the Lord, he just flax himself and break. All the buttons and pull out all this. Be the Lord can work anything for good and he will, he promises. If we love him this church has been so good at saying to Susie and me, we're praying that, you'll be less where you're going, we're praying that God will have good things for you. And so when I hear that receipt, that I think boys are, Lords are going to bless this church. It'll be in a different way. Maybe then when, when I was here at Susie because he's, he's going to have different leaders with different gifts, but but already, I see some of those things taking place and He does a measurably better than we can ever ask or even dream because we're trusting him the Lord you and I if we want to bake a cake in 2 weeks ago, I wanted cake. I'll start making a cake without even telling Susie. And so I dumped it all in a bowl and we don't have electric beaters. Please don't get us any work. We're having to downsize. So I took a fork and I went into the living room and I was mixing the eggs in, this should see what else was in it. One of those big giant things, I'm used to the little mixers, you know. And I actually forgot, we had that to be honest, but I said, what are you doing? I said, I'm, I'm going to bake a cake. That butter chocolate cake looks so good to me. So it required me getting a bowl and put in the eggs in and all that. Do you know that when God's going to make something instead of a bull, he can use it, he can use a hammer. Instead of ingredients, he can use broken parts that you have out in your shed. He can take whatever it is, mix it together the way he wants. And the way he thinks is best and he's going to make something wonderful of it. He is far beyond any measurement that we can make for him.
He gives Beauty. Would we give him ashes of our life?
When were heavy and we give it to him. The Bible says he gives us a Garment of Praise so that we can Praise Him. Perhaps you remember what Monty Hall could do on the show, Let's Make a Deal. Remember that show. 60s and 70s, and people would bring some leave, we're weird costume and maybe have something to trade make a deal with Monty and he take it. And did they bring all kinds of things? May be a picture of someone or I mean anything? Anything, but imagine for a moment, if a farmer came and he brought a shovel and monitor took that in exchange for something behind the curtain, and it was just A month supply of hand soap.
And the four farmer has to sit down and we watch the rest of the show. And then right at the end Monty Hall, says, and I'm going to give a few people a chance at the big door. The big know what they called it Door. Number 1, 2 or 3 and then all of a sudden, he says to the farmer that had given away, the shovel come on up. Are you willing to trade Furs? I don't remember what he got. What did he get? And so, are you willing to trade your hand? Soap, for whatever is behind door 3 at Farmers, just tens of thousand, dollars of cash.
Egypt. Money Hall is a human being that did far more for that with that shovel than that farmer could have done at home. God takes whatever we offer him, the broken parts, whatever our life is, we put it in his hand and he does far more with it than we can ever imagine. He's right there waiting for you, and me to believe him for what he wants to give us. And to yield our heart and spirit to his will and his word. He is Major list, far beyond anything we can comprehend. Secondly
I'm going to say, secondly, he's far beyond anything we can comprehend, we can attain it. His love is beyond what we know. We grip it and we enjoy what we group, but it's even more. Woodfield was it? We go out and we say Lord I need more than you give them even more. He is far beyond. in fact, the prophet said, I can't attain it. You're so good. Lord, my human comprehension cannot fathom. Your goodness, it's above me. I can't get a hold of it. Can attain it. It's so wonderful.
One of my earliest memories of church was we visited a church in Spokane and it was a Sunday night, maybe it was a sister Church of the one I grew up in and we were in the parking lot. Somehow I had a helium balloon. I don't know why I made. It was 4 years old, I don't, and I was out in the church parking lot and I sadly, I let go that balloon and there was enough light that I could see the balloon going higher and higher. But you know what, I just couldn't reach it friend. I couldn't attain it. Where did I learn that? I couldn't attain something like that, that was going higher and higher in the parking lot of a church. He does all of these things.
To him, who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly beyond all we can ask or imagine.
According to his power that works in US.
Freeing our mind to trust the Lord laying it. All aside letting him control our thoughts with his word and prayer, not allowing for anything. Could cause us to doubt or or wonder or fear, but letting him be far beyond anything. We can imagine. And having those thoughts for him that are so pleasing. And loving, I'm going to close by just sharing. Remember when David defeated Goliath. And just before the battle. David wanders into Camp. He hears this giant defying God and cursing the Army. And he is saying, why are you guys letting this happen day after day? And He makes himself available. To go out and fight the giant, but before he goes out, his brother says to him is Big Brother of all people. He's the youngest in the family and of all people to attack him. His big brother says, what are you even doing here? You're conceited and wicked. If David wasn't, but what did he do with that accusation? What do you do? What do I do when the devil tries to make you doubt who you are in Christ? You're in Christ. Greater, is he, that is in you than he that is in the world, David? Shrugged, all that off. Even from such an influential person that he perhaps it honored and loved in his life and his most difficult crisis to that point. He Shrugged it all off and he said this battle belongs to the Lord in this day, he'll give me that person into my own hand and he didn't walk at, he didn't Cross Ranch at the Giant. He is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all we ask or even imagine how cording to his power. That works in his power, in us through us for these things. Lord, for this Truth, for this promise that we can walk in, and face, the armies of hell that we can walk into uncertain times, that we can walk into accusation and all kind of blasphemy and still your sufficient to give us the victory. All praise to you forever and ever. And to you Jesus Christ head of your body, the church. Thank you in Jesus name, amen.
