Being One

Philippians 2 :1-4 1.Therefore, if there is any encouragement in Christ, if any consolation of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion,2. complete my joy, so that ⌊you are in agreement⌋, having the same love, united in spirit, ⌊having one purpose⌋. 3.Do nothing according to selfish ambition or according to empty conceit, but in humility considering one another better than yourselves,4. each of you not looking out for ⌊your own interests⌋, but also each of you for ⌊the interests⌋ of other
A. Christians share encouragement
Christ Love Fellowship and Compassion and should be united in purpose
We share the Holy Spirit
Colossians 3:12 “Therefore, as the chosen of God, holy and dearly loved, put on affection, compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience,”
2 Corinthians 13:13 “Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the saints greet you.”
Ephesians 5:21 “being subject to one another out of reverence for Christ”
1 Peter 5:5 “In the same way, younger men, be subject to the elders, and all of you clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”
Ephesians 4:2 “with all humility and gentleness, with patience, putting up with one another in love,”
B. Avoid Selfish Ambition.
Selfish Ambition says what do i get out it
Romans 15:1–7 “But we who are strong ought to bear the weaknesses of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Let each one of us please his neighbor for his good, for the purpose of edification. For even Christ did not please himself, but just as it is written, “The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me.” For whatever was written beforehand was written for our instruction, in order that through patient endurance and through the encouragement of the scriptures we may have hope. Now may the God of patient endurance and of encouragement grant you to be in agreement with one another, in accordance with Christ Jesus, so that with one mind you may glorify with one mouth the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore accept one another, just as Christ also has accepted you, to the glory of God.”
Galatians 5:26 “We must not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.”
James 3:14 “But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast and tell lies against the truth.”
C. He encourages people not to focus on there own interest
Leviticus 19:18 “You shall not seek vengeance, and you shall not harbor a grudge against your fellow citizens; and you shall love your neighbor like yourself; I am Yahweh.”
1 Corinthians 10:24 “Let no one seek his own good but the good of the other.”
1 Corinthians 13:4–8 “Love is patient, love is kind, love is not jealous, it does not boast, it does not become conceited, it does not behave dishonorably, it is not selfish, it does not become angry, it does not keep a record of wrongs, it does not rejoice at unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth, bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. But if there are prophecies, they will pass away. If there are tongues, they will cease. If there is knowledge, it will pass away.”
