Call to Worship

Proverbs 3:5–6 ESV

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

Lord, we come before You seeking that You would teach us to truly trust in You with all our heart, seeking that You would teach us to lean not on our understanding, seeking that You would teach us to acknowledge You in all of our way. And Lord, please direct our paths.

In Jesus’ name, amen.

Psalm 61 ESV

To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments. Of David. Hear my cry, O God, listen to my prayer; from the end of the earth I call to you when my heart is faint. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I, for you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the enemy. Let me dwell in your tent forever! Let me take refuge under the shelter of your wings! Selah For you, O God, have heard my vows; you have given me the heritage of those who fear your name. Prolong the life of the king; may his years endure to all generations! May he be enthroned forever before God; appoint steadfast love and faithfulness to watch over him! So will I ever sing praises to your name, as I perform my vows day after day.

Pastor’s Prayer

Holy Father,

With the psalmist we pray that You would lead us to the rock that is higher than we are for You have been our refuge, a strong tower against the enemy. You are the only One who can deliver us from our enemy which is not flesh and blood, but is Satan and his minions.

Lord, we cry out to you for those who are sick and hurting. We continue to remember Kristen Davis, Glenna Kenney, Jodi Redinger, Lloyd Mox and many others who have been plagued with various infirmities. May You hand of healing be upon them, if that be Your will. May You strengthen them and encourage them as they seek to persevere under trials and testings. Lord, may the come to understand that You have a purpose for the trials in which the are going through — may they see that You are seeking to refine them in the refiners fire, and may they come forth as gold!

Father, I pray for the leaders of our nation during this time of turbulence. May You give them wisdom, even if they don’t seek it from You. May those who do not know You be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth so that we who belong to You may live quite and peaceable lives in all godliness and tranquility.

Father, I pray for the City Rescue Mission of Lansing. May Your hand be upon those who serve in this vital ministry. May You prosper them according to Your will. May You provide for them the fundings which they need for this ministry. I pray for those to whom they minister, that they would be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth.

I pray these things in Jesus’ name. Amen.
