Good evening, The Vine Collective.

It is so good to be in the house of God with you tonight. If you are new with us, my name is Pastor Eliud, and we are family here. We don't do religion. We do relationship — with God and with each other. Welcome home.

We are in week three of our series, Restoring Order. Week one, we laid the foundation — our God is a God of order. Where God shows up, order shows up. Last week, we talked about order in the spirit — before God puts your outside in order, He puts your inside in order.

Tonight, we take it one step further.

Because there is a room in your life that nobody else can see. A room where some of the loudest battles are being fought. A room where the enemy spends most of his time, because if he can win there, he wins everywhere.

That room is your mind.

So tonight, the title of the message is simple: Order in the Mind.

RESTORING ORDER You can't grow what you haven't ordered.

OPENING HOOK

Let me ask you something tonight.

When was the last time your mind was actually quiet?

Not your phone on silent. Not the room quiet. Not the kids asleep. Your mind.

When was the last time you laid your head down and your mind laid down with you? When was the last time you walked into a room and you were not already rehearsing the next conversation?

For a lot of us, the answer is — I do not remember. Because the mind has become the loudest room in the house. And we have learned to live with the noise.

Some of us are carrying anxiety we have just renamed "normal."

Some of us are carrying offense we have just renamed "I'm fine."

Some of us are picturing futures God never authored, and we have just renamed it "faith."

And we have stopped asking the question — is this how God designed me to live?

Because here is the truth — your mind is not just a part of your life. Your mind is the command center of your life. Whatever wins in your mind eventually wins in your life.

And the enemy knows it. That is why the battle for your life is being fought in the smallest room in your body — the one between your ears.

Stand to your feet with me as we honor the reading of the Word of God.

[ Read Scripture ]

"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." — Romans 12:1–2

Father, we thank You for Your Word. Tonight we ask You — order our minds. Renew our thinking. Bring peace where there has been noise. Bring truth where there have been lies. Tear down imaginations that have been exalting themselves against You. In Jesus' name, amen.

You can be seated.

1. THE MIND IS THE COMMAND CENTER

Paul writes this verse to a church living in Rome. Rome was loud. Crowded. Full of pressure, full of culture, full of voices telling you what to think, what to want, what to fear.

And in the middle of that environment, Paul does not tell them to escape Rome. He tells them — be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

But notice something with me, because this is important. Paul starts with the body.

"Present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God."

Then he moves to the mind. "Be transformed by the renewing of your mind."

Why does he do that? Why does he start with the body and then go to the mind?

Because Paul knew something we have not always understood. Your body can be present, but your mind can still be conformed. You can be in church physically and still be thinking like Rome. You can lift your hands in worship and still let culture disciple your imagination. You can have your body in the right place and have your mind in the wrong place.

So Paul says — present the body. But renew the mind.

Because if Rome could capture your mind, Rome would capture your life. If culture could capture your mind, culture would capture your life. If fear could capture your mind, fear would capture your life.

So he says — do not be conformed. Be transformed.

The word transformed in the Greek is metamorphoo. Same word we get "metamorphosis" from. A caterpillar becoming a butterfly. A complete change.

But notice where the transformation happens. Not in your circumstances. Not in your bank account.

By the renewing of your mind.

Whatever wins in your mind eventually wins in your life.

Every decision you have ever made started as a thought. Every relationship you are in started as a thought. Every habit, every fear, every dream — started as a thought.

Most of us are praying for God to change our circumstances when God is waiting to change our thinking. Most of us want a new life with the same old thoughts. And God says — that is not how it works.

The mind is the command center. Whatever takes up residence in your mind eventually issues commands to your whole life. That is why the enemy fights so hard for your mental real estate. He does not need to take your soul if he can rent space in your mind.

2. THE FOUR FACES OF A DISORDERED MIND

A disordered mind does not always look the same. It does not always look dramatic. Most of the time, a disordered mind is quiet. It is functional. It looks like a normal person carrying a battle nobody else can see.

And in this room tonight, I believe the Lord has put His finger on four faces of a disordered mind. Four ways the enemy keeps the command center under siege.

You may carry one. You may carry all four. But tonight, the Holy Spirit wants to bring order to what has been scattered.

The First Face: The Scattered Mind

This is the mind that cannot land anywhere.

You sit down to pray, and your mind goes to the bills. You open the Word, and your mind goes to a text you forgot to send. You try to be present with your family, and your mind is at work.

Physically in the room. Mentally scattered in six directions.

And we live in a world that profits from your scattered mind. Every app is engineered to fragment your attention. Every notification pulls you out of the moment. Your mind has been trained to chase noise instead of dwell in truth.

You cannot sit in silence anymore. You cannot drive without the phone playing. You cannot wait three minutes in line without picking up your screen.

And then we wonder why we cannot hear God.

Distraction is not a small thing. A mind that cannot focus cannot grow. A mind that cannot be still cannot hear. A mind that is scattered cannot be sanctified.

The enemy doesn't need to silence the voice of God. He just needs to make your mind too loud to hear it.

The Second Face: The Captured Mind

This is the mind that has been taken hostage.

This is the person who lays down at night and their mind starts running. What if I lose my job. What if they leave me. What if the diagnosis comes back. What if I never get there.

Two hours deep in a fight that has not even happened. Losing sleep over things that may never come. Carrying tomorrow's weight on tonight's shoulders.

Anxiety is not always just a personality trait. For many of us, what we call anxiety has also been fed by unmanaged thinking. A mind that has been allowed to roam free, and the enemy has moved in to take over the lease.

Now I want to be careful — I am not talking about clinical conditions that need real care from a doctor or counselor. If that is you, please get the help you need. There is no shame in that, and God uses many means to bring healing. Medicine and the Spirit are not enemies.

But for many of us, the battle is not in the body. It is in the thought life. And we have been letting fear preach to us louder than the Word of God.

"For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ." — 2 Corinthians 10:3–5

Bringing every thought into captivity. Paul says there is going to be a war in your mind. The only question is — who is going to be the one taking prisoners?

Either your thoughts take you captive, or you take your thoughts captive. There is no middle ground.

Either you take your thoughts captive, or your thoughts will take you captive.

The Third Face: The Weighed-Down Mind

This is the mind that is carrying things it was never supposed to carry.

Offense. Bitterness. Resentment. Replays of what someone did to you. Replays of what you wish you had said. Replays of moments you cannot let go of.

Some of us, the reason our mind has no peace is because we are mentally still in a conversation that happened five years ago. We are walking around forgiven by God, but we have never forgiven ourselves. We are walking around free, but we are still rehearsing the wound.

Unforgiveness is a disordered mind. Bitterness is a disordered mind. Replaying what they did to you is a disordered mind.

I know it is not popular to say. We feel justified. We say, "But you do not know what they did to me."

You are right. I do not know. But Jesus does. And He still says — let it go.

Not because what happened was okay. But because you were never built to carry it. The mind was not designed to be a storage unit for old wounds.

The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 2:16 — "We have the mind of Christ."

Think about that. The same mind that walked through betrayal without bitterness. The same mind that endured the cross without resentment. The same mind that prayed "Father, forgive them" while they were still nailing Him to the wood — that mind has been made available to you.

Your mind was not designed to host old grudges. Your mind was designed to carry the mind of Christ.

Every replay you allow, every wound you refuse to bring to Jesus, is real estate that the mind of Christ was supposed to occupy. And every grudge you keep is rent paid to the enemy in a room Jesus wanted to fill.

Your mind was not designed to be a storage unit for old wounds. It was designed to carry the mind of Christ.

The Fourth Face: The Imagining Mind

Now I want to talk about the fourth face. And this one — I believe — is the one the church has been slowest to address.

Because we have learned how to talk about anxious thoughts, and we have learned how to talk about offense. But we have not learned how to talk about the part of your mind that does not just think — it pictures.

The imagination.

Your mind is not just a thinking machine. Your mind is also a picture-making machine. It builds scenarios. It paints futures. It creates entire movies based on a single fear. It can replay a moment so vividly you feel like you are living it again.

Your imagination is one of the most powerful gifts God ever gave a human being. But because it is so powerful, it is also one of the most contested pieces of spiritual real estate in your entire life.

Look at what Paul says in 2 Corinthians 10:5 — "Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God."

Imaginations. The Greek word is logismos. It means reasonings. Mental constructions. The pictures the mind builds and then defends as if they were reality.

Paul is saying — there are imaginations in your mind right now that have raised themselves up against the knowledge of God. They have built strongholds. They have built whole castles of false reality. And the weapons of our warfare are mighty enough to pull them down.

Because here is what we have to understand — an imagination is not just a random thought. It is a picture your mind is painting that does not agree with what God has spoken.

Genesis 6:5 says this — and this is sobering — "The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually."

Before the flood, the world did not just have bad behavior. The world had a runaway imagination. Every picture the human mind was painting was contrary to God. And God said — this cannot continue.

The imagination is real. The imagination is a battlefield.

And the enemy of our souls knows it.

Now hear me — the world has discovered something the church already knew. That the imagination is powerful. That the pictures you hold in your mind shape the life you walk into.

But the world has taken that truth and built a counterfeit around it. They call it manifestation.

"Speak it into existence." "Visualize the version of yourself you want to become." "The universe is just waiting for you to align your energy with what you want."

It is on every social media app. It is in every podcast. It is in every motivational reel.

And listen — I am not saying every dream is demonic. I am not saying every goal is wrong. I am not saying every vision board is from the enemy. I am saying anything that removes God from the throne and puts your mind in His place has crossed into dangerous territory.

Manifestation says — the power is in the picture. If I see it, I create it.

Kingdom imagination says — the power is in the One who already spoke. If God has said it, I align with it.

Manifestation puts the throne in your head. Your mind becomes god. Your picture becomes the creative force. Kingdom imagination puts your head under the throne. God is God. He has already spoken. And your imagination is invited to agree with what He has declared.

Manifestation makes you the creator. Kingdom imagination makes you a son or daughter agreeing with the Creator.

One is faith.

The other is witchcraft dressed in self-help language.

I said that carefully, because I want you to receive it carefully. One is faith. The other is witchcraft dressed in self-help language. Because anything that puts the creative power in you instead of God is asking you to play a role you were never designed to play. You are not the creator. You are the created.

Manifestation says the power is in the picture. Kingdom imagination says the power is in the One who already spoke.

The Unsubmitted Imagination

Now let me pastor this carefully. Because not every imagination that needs to be surrendered is negative.

Some people imagine failure. Some people imagine rejection. Some people imagine sickness. Some people imagine everything falling apart.

But others imagine success. They imagine the future they want. They imagine the life they desire. They imagine the outcome they have been hoping for.

And there is nothing wrong with vision. There is nothing wrong with hope. There is nothing wrong with believing God for better.

But even a good picture can become dangerous when it is not submitted to God.

Because the question is not, "Is this picture positive or negative?"

The question is — "Is this picture surrendered?"

Did God author this, or did I build it from my own desire?

Is this rooted in His Word, or is it rooted in my control?

Is this for His glory, or is this just the future I want Him to bless?

A picture does not have to be negative to be unsubmitted.

Sometimes the imagination that needs to come down is not the one where everything goes wrong. Sometimes it is the one where everything goes right — but God is not on the throne.

So tonight, God is not telling you to stop dreaming. He is telling you to submit the dream.

He is not trying to destroy your vision. He is trying to sanctify it.

God is not against you having vision. He is not against you believing for better. He is not against you wanting your family restored, your business blessed, your body healed, or your future to be fruitful.

But He loves you too much to let your imagination become the throne.

Because whatever God authors, God can sustain. But whatever I build without Him, I will eventually have to carry without Him.

So the invitation tonight is not, "Stop dreaming." The invitation is, "Submit the dream."

Kingdom imagination is not fear controlling the future. And it is not self controlling the future. Kingdom imagination is the mind learning to see life under the Lordship of Jesus.

3. THE SECRET OF THE STEADY MIND

So how do we get order back into the command center? How do we go from scattered to focused, from captured to free, from weighed-down to released, from unsubmitted to surrendered?

Isaiah 26:3 gives us one of the most beautiful verses in the whole Bible on this.

"You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You." — Isaiah 26:3

In the original Hebrew, the phrase is shalom shalom. Peace peace. Peace upon peace. Perfect peace.

And how do you get it? Whose mind is stayed on You.

The word "stayed" means leaning, supported, propped up. The picture is someone resting their full weight on something solid. Not glancing at it. Not visiting it. Leaning.

The steady mind belongs to the person whose mind is leaning on God.

Because your mind is going to lean on something. The question is what.

Some of us are leaning on the news. Some on the algorithm. Some on what other people think. Some on our own imagination, running scenarios God never authored.

Isaiah says — lean it on Him.

A mind stayed on God is a mind kept in perfect peace.

And notice — it does not say "a mind that never has a hard thought." It says a mind that is stayed. Leaning. Anchored.

Storms can still come. Bills can still hit. People can still disappoint you. But the steady mind does not come unraveled, because the steady mind is not leaning on the circumstance. It is leaning on the One who never moves.

4. THE PRACTICE OF RENEWAL

Now I want to be practical. The word "renewing" in Romans 12:2 is in the present tense. It is not a one-time event. It is a daily renovation. The world is constantly trying to put pressure back on the mold. And we have to constantly let God press us back into His image.

How does the renewing actually happen? Three movements. Remember these:

First, Notice

You cannot take captive what you have not first noticed.

Most of us are walking around with thoughts running our lives that we have never actually examined. We just feel anxious — but we never ask, what am I actually thinking? We just feel insecure — but we never ask, what picture is my mind painting right now?

The first act of order is awareness. When you slow down, some of you are going to be shocked at what is playing on repeat in your head.

Second, Confront

Once you notice, you have to confront.

Paul did not say "cast out" — he said bring every thought into captivity. That is a confrontation. You stop the thought at the door and you ask it — does this match the Word of God? Does this picture line up with what God has spoken?

If yes, let it pass. If no, do not let it sit on the couch of your mind.

This is what spiritual maturity looks like. Not, "I never have hard thoughts." But, "I do not let hard thoughts move in and start running my life."

Every thought knocks on the door. Not every thought gets a seat at the table.

Third, Replace

You cannot just kick out a lie. You have to put truth in its place. Because if you just empty the room, the lie comes back with friends. An empty house gets reoccupied.

Lie says, "You are not enough." Truth says, "I am fearfully and wonderfully made."

Lie says, "You are alone." Truth says, "He will never leave me nor forsake me."

Imagination says, "I see myself failing." Truth says, "God has plans for me — plans for a future and a hope."

Imagination says, "It is never going to change." Truth says, "God is not finished."

And for the person whose imagination has been building futures without God on the throne — for the person imagining the worst, surrender the fear. For the person imagining the best without God, surrender the control.

Both are invitations to trust. One says, "God, I trust You with what I fear." The other says, "God, I trust You with what I want."

The renewing of the mind is not just stopping the noise. It is filling the room with God's voice until His voice is the loudest one.

5. BRINGING IT HOME

So church, let me ask you tonight — what has been running your mind?

Not what runs your day. What runs your mind.

Because some of us, before our feet hit the floor, fear has already had a meeting with us. Anxiety has already given us our schedule. And we wonder why we feel defeated by ten in the morning.

So tonight I want you to do an honest audit. Which face is yours?

Is your mind scattered?

Have you lost the ability to be still? Has your phone been discipling you more than Scripture? If that is you, the Lord is calling you back to focus.

Is your mind captured?

Are you fighting battles that have not happened? Has anxiety taken so much real estate that there is no more room for hope? If that is you, the Lord is offering you the ability to take those thoughts captive instead of letting them take you captive.

Is your mind weighed down?

Are you still mentally living in something that happened years ago? Has unforgiveness moved in and made itself comfortable in a room where the mind of Christ was supposed to dwell? If that is you, the Lord is asking you to release what you have been carrying.

Is your imagination unsubmitted?

Maybe you have been picturing the worst — failure, rejection, sickness, futures God never authored. Or maybe you have been picturing the best — success, comfort, outcomes you have been believing for — but you have never actually submitted those pictures to God. You have been calling it faith, but underneath, you have been holding the pen yourself.

Whichever way your imagination is running, the Lord is asking you to bring it under His Lordship. Not to stop dreaming — but to submit the dream.

Whichever face is yours — and you may carry more than one — the Lord is not asking you to fix it tonight. He is asking you to stop hiding it.

You cannot let God reorder a mind you keep pretending is fine.

[ Pause. Let the room get quiet. ]

Because tonight, God is not just trying to calm your mind.

He is trying to reclaim your mind.

The same Spirit who hovered over chaos in Genesis is hovering over the chaos in your mind right now. He is ready to speak light into the dark thoughts. He is ready to cast down imaginations. He is ready to renew the command center.

6. THE INVITATION

So tonight, I am asking — what thought, what picture, what imagination have you been letting run your life that you need to bring to Jesus?

Not a list. Just one. The one the Holy Spirit just brought to your mind.

Maybe it is a fear that has been running your decisions.

Maybe it is a lie about yourself that you have been agreeing with for years.

Maybe it is a picture of failure your mind keeps painting.

Maybe it is a dream you have been holding onto without ever submitting it to God.

Maybe it is an offense you have been justifying.

Whatever it is — tonight is the night you stop carrying it alone.

With every head bowed and every eye closed, I want you to put your hand over your forehead. Right on your mind. Because we want to be specific tonight. We want God to touch the place where the battle has been.

And pray this with me:

Father, I bring my mind to You tonight.

Every scattered thought, every captured thought, every weighed-down thought, every unsubmitted imagination —

I bring them all to You.

Forgive me for agreeing with lies.

Forgive me for rehearsing wounds You wanted me to release.

Forgive me for letting fear preach louder than Your Word.

Forgive me for picturing futures You never authored.

Forgive me for holding onto dreams I never surrendered.

Jesus, come and sit on the throne of my mind.

Tear down every imagination that has exalted itself against You.

Renew my thinking. Order my thoughts. Sanctify my imagination.

Let the mind of Christ become the mind I operate from.

In Jesus' name, amen.

CLOSING

Father, we thank You. We thank You that You are a God who does not just save us — You restore us. You do not just rescue us — You renew us.

Tonight we surrender the command center. We give You access to the room where so many of our battles have been fought alone.

Hover over our minds the way You hovered over the deep. Speak light into the dark thoughts. Cast down imaginations. Tear down strongholds. And in their place, build a sanctified imagination — one that does not just stay positive, but stays submitted.

From this night forward, let us not just live in our heads. Let us live in the mind of Christ.

Let us be steady. Let us be focused. Let us be free.

Because we are Your people. And You are a God of order.

In Jesus' name, amen.

Final Word to the Church

Church, this was week three. We have two weeks to go.

Next Sunday — Order in the Home. Bring your spouse. Bring your kids. Bring your family.

And remember what we have been saying:

You can't grow what you haven't ordered.

Where God shows up, order shows up.

Whatever wins in your mind eventually wins in your life.

A picture does not have to be negative to be unsubmitted.
