Message:

Colossians 2:6–12 “Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving. See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ. For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority. In him also you were circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the powerful working of God, who raised him from the dead.”

Vs. 6 We received Christ by faith alone, by Christ alone. We asked and we received. We knocked and the door opened.

Vs. 7 There are roots in the faith and those roots go way down through the centuries:

Vs. 8 roots protect us against:

philosophy

empty deceit

human traditions that are not according to Christ

Vs. 9 fully God and fully man. (hypostatic union)

human tradition teacher that you are just like Jesus… no you are not just like Jesus.

Vs. 10 you have been filled in him but he is the Head.

Vs. 11 The sign is no different and the sign in the new covenant is for all (male and female)

Vs. 12 In Baptism we died with him, but we were also raised again to new life.

1 Corinthians 11:23–26 “For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.”
