Introduction

“Today we have the joy of dedicating these children to the Lord.

A baby dedication is not about the salvation of the child, but about the commitment of the parents to raise their children in a godly home and point them toward Jesus Christ.

In Scripture, we see examples of children being brought before the Lord. Hannah dedicated Samuel to God, and Mary and Joseph brought Jesus Christ to the temple.

Psalm 127:3 says:

‘Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb is a reward.’

Children are a gift from God, entrusted to parents for a season to love, lead, teach, and nurture.”

Charge to the Parents

“Parents, God has entrusted you with one of life’s greatest responsibilities.

Your calling is not simply to provide for your children physically, but to lead them spiritually.

You are called to:

love them faithfully,

teach them God’s Word,

pray for them continually,

model Christ before them,

and create a home where Jesus is honored.

Book of Deuteronomy 6 reminds us that God’s Word is to be taught diligently to our children in everyday life.

No parent does this perfectly, but God gives grace, wisdom, and strength for the journey.”

Questions to the Parents

“Do you commit to raising your child in a Christ-centered home and teaching them the truths of God’s Word?”

(Parents respond: “We do.”)

“Do you commit to praying for your child and modeling a life that points them toward Jesus?”

(Parents respond: “We do.”)

Charge to the Church

“Church family, baby dedication is not only a commitment from the parents, but also from the church.

We are called to encourage, support, pray for, and help disciple the next generation.

Do you commit to supporting these families, praying for these children, and helping create a church where they can grow in the knowledge and love of Christ?”

(Congregation responds: “We do.”)

Prayer of Dedication

“Heavenly Father,

We thank You for the gift of these children. Every good and perfect gift comes from You.

Today we dedicate them to You and pray Your hand of blessing upon their lives.

Give these parents wisdom, patience, grace, and strength as they raise their children. May their homes be filled with love, truth, peace, and the presence of Christ.

Protect these children physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Draw them to Yourself at an early age, and may they one day personally place their faith in Jesus Christ.

May they grow to love what is good, walk in truth, and fulfill the calling You have upon their lives.

We dedicate these families to You now, in Jesus’ name.

Amen.”
