I. v. 6 -12 The assention
A. v. 6 Disciples asking when will you restore the kingdom of Isreal
This was on their hearts-
a. They believed that He was Messiah
b. Their hopes were shattered when He was cruxied
c. Now they wanted to know
B. v. 7 His response.
i. It is not for you know the times and the seasons
a. Disciples wanted to know, Jesus it not for you to know
ii. people today still want to know, they study scripture, look at world events, make accusations, and perdictions of when Jesus is going to come back, but God’s Word has not changed, Jesus said it not for you to know.
a. ILL. Grandma telling how people sold everything that they had and waited for the lords return.
b. ILL. Listen to the radio some false prophet said according to his calulations the Lord is returning on this date.
c. ILL. Henery Kisinger was the anti-christ
d. ILL. Blood moon books were written about it, and relating to prophecy.
* It not for you to know!
iii. Then why did God write about the end times? Why did He write about the rapture, and give us the book of Revelation?
a. So we would know what is going to happen and the fact it it will happen, but the times and the seasons that it is going to happen is not for us to know!
iv. The knowledge we do know gives us hope.

v. The knowledge we do know should give boldness to continue in our walk for the Lord.

C. v. 8 His response part 2
a. But this is what going to happen know
b. You shall receive power after the Holy Ghost has come upon you.

The Holy Spirit is to convict hearts
c. You shall be wittinesses this phrase is not a command it is a statement.
i. Jesus said the Holy Spirit shall come, and after that you we be a wittiness.
a. What does it mean to be a wittiness?
-a wittiness is to testify of the things they saw or exspereinced and know are true.
-the disciples were eyewittinesses of the Lord Jesus, His death burial and ressurection.
-through their wittiness the Church began.
-although we are not eyewittinesses we have exspereinced first hand the life chancing miracle that Jesus did in our hearts.
-we know from God’s Word that He is God and the Savior of the world, and that without Him there is no hope.
-this is our wittiness, this is our testemony.
-it is one of the best ways to tell people about Jesus/it was Paul’s way.
D. v.v. 9-12 The asendsion
1. why stand there gazing into heaven He will be coming back
a. a prophcy of His return
2. they went back to Jerusalem and waited
II. v.v. 13-21 The wait
A. v.v. 13-14 They prayed together
1. they were together in one accord-praying
B. v.v. 15- 20 They went to the scriptures
they didn’t know what to do about the replacement of Judas
Ps. 4
v. 16 Holy Ghost spoke concerning Judas
Psalm 41:9 KJV 1900
Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, Which did eat of my bread, Hath lifted up his heel against me.
iii. v. 17 He was part of us
a. He not only betrayed the Lord Jesus he betrayed his friends
iv. v.v. 18-20 Justice prevailed
C. v.v. 21-26 Took action according to God’s Word
a. they looked at who was qulified to take this position
b. they prayed for the Lord to give them wisdom in whom to choose
c. they casted their lots
Application:
The work of the Lord is not finished
we don’t know when He is coming back
Don’t know what to do-one thing you do know is that your a wittness
wait and pray and read asking for guidence
