Saving Faith is given to us by God and with this comes fruit that shows the life of a saint’
The world says, “Seeing is believing.”
Faith answers, “Believing is seeing.”
the word faith is in Hebrews 31 times
Hebrews is written to a people who have a religion of works
it’s works based -obey the law do the sacrifices
today in Israel they want to rebuild the temple so they can continue the sacrifices
to continue their works based way into the kingdom
the Author is telling them that the New Covenant has arrived and to enter the kingdom is through faith.
the New Covenant through the blood of Jesus can do what the blood of the Old Covenant could never do
Read James 2 14-22
good works does not save anyone
but good works prove you are saved
this is what we are looking at this morning

assurance there is going to be what God says
conviction that it will happen

“You found his heart faithful before You, And cut a covenant with him To give him the land of the Canaanite, Of the Hittite and the Amorite, Of the Perizzite, the Jebusite, and the Girgashite— To give it to his seed. And You have established Your promise, For You are righteous.

Abraham on the other hand saw this city by faith trusting in God who had told him about this city
Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day.
For our momentary, light affliction is working out for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison,
while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
God has given us a great gift of faith that we can see the future. and what He has promised us
does the circumstances of this world sometimes cause us to doubt
doubt out salvation
doubt the love that God has for us
possibly saying how can a good God allow this to happen
anxiety about the future
Abraham and Sarah had doubts about what God had promised
they over and over told God of their doubts
and God patiently continued to tell them His promise

Abraham lived in tents on a land that was only promised to his descendants
but he could by faith see the city of God where is ultimate living room will be

Sarah conceived and had Issac after she was to old to conceive

all of the Israelites who were ever born can trace their lineage back to Abraham and Sarah
those who have been called of God, regenerated, and have been given faith have died. or soon will die looking forward to the soon rapture of the saints to bring us to this golden city built by God
V 14-16
these have a reservation and it has been confirmed
“They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
“If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, because of this the world hates you.
For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,
The Test of Abraham

V 17
Abraham knew God hated the pagans offering up their children as sacrifices
he also knew that the promise of a nation was through Issac
so when God told Abraham to go to Mt Mariah to offer Issac as a sacrifice. by faith he went
Now it happened after these things, that God tested Abraham and said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.”
Then He said, “Take now your son, your only one, whom you love, Isaac, and go forth to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I will tell you.”
So Abraham rose early in the morning and saddled his donkey and took two of his young men with him and Isaac his son; and he split wood for the burnt offering and arose and went to the place of which God had told him.
On the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes and saw the place from a distance.
And Abraham said to his young men, “Stay here with the donkey while I and the boy go over there; and we will worship, and we will return to you.”
Abraham fully intended to follow through with the sacrifice
he tied up his son, and was in the process of using the knife to take away his life
by faith Abraham said to his servants “wait here we will be back”
what was Abraham expecting?
how could Abraham be so confident that they both would return?
By faith, Abraham will kill his son
Faith in what?
God’s promise to make a graet nation out of Issac
but how can that happen if he is dead?
V 18-19
Abraham was sure that he would kill Issac, burn him on the altar, then God would cause him to be resurrected from the ashes. then they would go down thwe hill together
to meet the servants then go home
the Just shall live by faith
Every day we are to live like God is in control
I doubt seriously if God will ask us to sacrifice our children
but He might ask us to give them to Him
Abraham in the hall of faith has demonstrated to us how to live by faith
