Ark of God (God is in Control)
1 Samuel 5
Remember Chapter 4, What was the different views of the Ark of God?
1 Samuel 5/
Eli = it was a piece of Furniture in the tabernacle, a part of someones tradition or religion
Eli’s sons and the people of Israel used it like a good luck charm
But Eli’s Daughter-in-law saw it as the Glory of God
Here we see the Philistines not realizing who defeated Israel and what the Ark of God really meant.
They instantly put the Ark of God at the feet of their idols and what did God do?
This is such a great picture of the sovereignty of God
This parallels in my mind the story of Jesus getting arrested
Who was in control the whole time at his arrest?
Jesus should full command over the situation
Who are you looking for?
I am He and they fell
Let these Go
Jesus was in full control
God was in full control even though the Ark was captured
1 Samuel 5
1 Samuel 5
1 Samuel 5
They recognize for a moment that it might be God who brought this about
1 Samuel
1 Samuel 5:
Here we see that they are not fully convinced that it is God as they are still keeping it and sending it to another Philistine city Gath
1 Samuel 5:
But again God’s hand was against them
Still not fully convinced holding out to their world view.
Ekron is still a Philistine city
1 Samuel 5:
In Chapter 6 we see that they are still wavering and are not completely sure if it was God or just by chance that everywhere they took the Ark of God that the people were struck
