Take Courage and Change Your World!

Matthew 14:25–29 NASB95
25 And in the fourth watch of the night He came to them, walking on the sea. 26 When the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were terrified, and said, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out in fear. 27 But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid.” 28 Peter said to Him, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” 29 And He said, “Come!” And Peter got out of the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Jesus.

IF IT’S YOU? Jesus, I don’t know if it’s you or not, but I’m going to take a chance. I don’t know if it’s your will or not, but I will force the issue. Before we take that step out of the boat, let us have a brief Bible Study. Isaiah 5:13
Isaiah 5:13–14 NASB95
13 Therefore My people go into exile for their lack of knowledge; And their honorable men are famished, And their multitude is parched with thirst. 14 Therefore Sheol has enlarged its throat and opened its mouth without measure; And Jerusalem’s splendor, her multitude, her din of revelry and the jubilant within her, descend into it.
exile: stripped of everything. exposed, revealed. why? They have a lack of knowledge. Continue. They live in a state of want. They have nothing. Why? A lack of knowing what to do. Continue with verse 14 Sheol: Hell enlarges, Jerusalem, the Holy City, Her Glory, The sounds of Jerusalem, and the jubilant (rejoicing) are swallowed up. Why? A lack of knowing what to do. What’s sad, is Old Jerusalem is a picture of New Jerusalem coming down. A lack of knowing, shuts down the glory, shuts down the voice of heaven, shuts down the rejoicing of heaven. Pretty heavy penalty.
Hosea.
Hosea 4:6 NASB95
6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being My priest. Since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.

דָּמָה dâmâh, daw-maw’; a prim. root; to be dumb or silent; hence, to fail or perish; trans. to destroy:— cease, be cut down (off), destroy, be brought to silence, be undone, × utterly.

My people are destroyed. My people are silenced. My people give up their right to speak into a situation, why? Look again.
Hosea 4:6 NASB95
6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being My priest. Since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.
A lack of knowledge. A lack of knowing what to do. Ever been there? Good news. A lack of knowledge is fixable. But, keep reading.

Now, during the fourth watch of the night He came to them, making His way upon the sea. But the disciples having seen Him walking directly upon the sea, His sandals in contact with the water, were terrified, saying, It is a phantasm, and they cried aloud for fear. And immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, Be having courage. It is I. Stop fearing. And answering Him, Peter said, O Lord. Since it is you, command me to come to you on the waves. And He said, Come at once. And having come down from the boat, Peter made his way upon the waves and came towards Jesus.

If it’s you Jesus!

I am a race car driver.
At some point, we will all be challenged by the Word to step out of our comfort zone and walk on the water toward the Word.
Psalm 105:17–19 NASB95
17 He sent a man before them, Joseph, who was sold as a slave. 18 They afflicted his feet with fetters, He himself was laid in irons; 19 Until the time that his word came to pass, The word of the Lord tested him.
Introduce Joseph & His situation. Read. What tested him? His brothers? The prison? No. The king of Egypt? No. THE WORD OF THE LORD. There are may of us, who are in a prison. We know the word is true. We need the word to be true, but our circumstances have put a cap on the Kingdom in our lives.

Genesis 1:1–3 NASB95
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters. 3 Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.

Genesis 1:26 NASB95
26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
Genesis 2:7–8 NASB95
7 Then the Lord God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being. 8 The Lord God planted a garden toward the east, in Eden; and there He placed the man whom He had formed.
Genesis 2:15–19 NASB95
15 Then the Lord God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate it and keep it. 16 The Lord God commanded the man, saying, “From any tree of the garden you may eat freely; 17 but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you will surely die.” 18 Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him.” 19 Out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the sky, and brought them to the man to see what he would call them; and whatever the man called a living creature, that was its name.
The Book of Genesis 18–25. The Creation of Animals and of Woman

The names which man will give them will determine their use and position in reference to man’s own nature. Their names would reflect the impression produced on the man’s mind. A “name,” in the estimation of the Hebrew, conveyed the idea of personality and character. It was more than a mere label. The animals, in this account, are created after man, and in definite relation to him; an entirely different representation from that in ch. 1.

Genesis 3:1–4 NASB95
1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, “Indeed, has God said, ‘You shall not eat from any tree of the garden’?” 2 The woman said to the serpent, “From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat; 3 but from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat from it or touch it, or you will die.’ ” 4 The serpent said to the woman, “You surely will not die!
Matthew 8:1–3 NASB95
1 When Jesus came down from the mountain, large crowds followed Him. 2 And a leper came to Him and bowed down before Him, and said, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.” 3 Jesus stretched out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
Explain the risk the leper was taking. The leper knew he could, He just didn’t know if he would. (Most of the Church)

Matthew 8:1–4 WUESTNT
1 And having come down from the mountain, great crowds followed with Him. And behold, a leper having come, fell upon his knees and touched the ground with his forehead in an expression of profound reverence before Him, saying, Master, in the event that you may be having a heartfelt desire, you are able to cleanse me. And having stretched out His hand He touched him saying, I am desiring it from all my heart. Be cleansed at once. And immediately his leprosy was cured by being cleansed away. And Jesus says to him, See to it, do not tell even one person, but be going away, show yourself at once as evidence to the priest, and offer the gift which Moses enjoined, as a testimony to them.
When the question of Jesus’ willingness was answered, immediately healing was delivered.
Look in one more translation.
When Jesus came down the mountain, large crowds followed Him.
And a leper came to Him and bowed down before Him, and said, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.”
Jesus jumped back from the Leper and said, Watch out man. Don’t you know how contagious that stuff is. You almost got it on me. I would love to heal you today, but I just raised a girl from the dead. It’s all I have today, and on top of that, I’m trying to teach you something. You know it’s not always my will. Maybe if you catch me tomorrow we can do something about it. You should have been at last weeks meeting. They all got healed there. Sorry. Sometimes I do. Sometimes I don’t. You never know what I might do.
You have Got to be Kidding me Human Reasoning Translation. Why include such an crazy slide in an otherwise good lesson?
We see this acted out throughout the church daily.
Mark 11:22–23 NASB95
22 And Jesus answered saying to them, “Have faith in God. 23 “Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be granted him.

Verse 23 Truly. Jesus the one who could not lie, says I am telling you the truth. Take Responsibility. My Part? Be a Whoever. Speak to the mountain. Believe. Reason for the next 2 Slides. Not to be mean. Not to mess up your favorite song. I highly recommend both artist, but never take everything an individual says or sings as Gospel truth. Check it out. Check me out. Don’t take everything I say. It needs to be Word or it’s just opinion, and probably error. Swallow the good. Spit out the bad. Ready.
They say it only takes a little faith To move a mountain Well good thing A little faith is all I have, right now But God, when You choose To leave mountains unmovable Oh give me the strength to be able to sing It is well with my soul
When You don’t move the mountains I’m needing You to move When You don’t part the waters I wish I could walk through When You don’t give the answers as I cry out to You I will trust, I will trust, I will trust in You!
His Word? Speak to the mountain. Believe. It will move. Allen, those are my favorite songs. I’m going through a tough time, and they make feel like God’s going to do something soon for me. I just like the tune. How can they hurt?
But Allen, you don’t understand what I’m going through right now. Word? or your personal circumstances? Which will you chose today? But Allen. I prayed for them. I know I was believing. I had visions and they still died. I have prayed for many, knowing God’s will and they still died, or divorced, or went bankrupt. We will talk about that in a minute or two, but for right now, Word? or circumstances?

Review Matthew 9:10-13
Matthew 9:10–13 NASB95
10 Then it happened that as Jesus was reclining at the table in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and were dining with Jesus and His disciples. 11 When the Pharisees saw this, they said to His disciples, “Why is your Teacher eating with the tax collectors and sinners?” 12 But when Jesus heard this, He said, “It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick. 13 “But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire compassion, and not sacrifice,’ for I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”
compassion: Mercy. God who is RICH IN MERCY...... desires to release his grace.
Very Quickly
Matthew 4:24 NASB95
24 The news about Him spread throughout all Syria; and they brought to Him all who were ill, those suffering with various diseases and pains, demoniacs, epileptics, paralytics; and He healed them.
Matthew 8:16–17 NASB95
16 When evening came, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed; and He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were ill. 17 This was to fulfill what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet: “He Himself took our infirmities and carried away our diseases.”
Matthew 12:15 NASB95
15 But Jesus, aware of this, withdrew from there. Many followed Him, and He healed them all,
Acts 10:38 NASB95
38 You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.
How many of us are seeing 100 percent results?
But that was Jesus. IT STILL IS. (explain) God who is rich in mercy, releasing grace into a situation. Amish?
Remember, there’s no better example of Jesus than Jesus. Peter wan’t a better Jesus. He was an extension of Jesus. Paul wasn’t a better Jesus. He was an extension of Jesus. Rob or Allen?
Review: : Jairus, Jesus is on a mission. Jairus’ house. A crowd is pressing in against him.
Luke 8:43–46 NASB95
43 And a woman who had a hemorrhage for twelve years, and could not be healed by anyone, 44 came up behind Him and touched the fringe of His cloak, and immediately her hemorrhage stopped. 45 And Jesus said, “Who is the one who touched Me?” And while they were all denying it, Peter said, “Master, the people are crowding and pressing in on You.” 46 But Jesus said, “Someone did touch Me, for I was aware that power had gone out of Me.”
Was Jesus lying? Did he really know who touched him? He just wanted to make it a teaching moment? No. He just knew power was drawn out of him. She wasn’t on his personal agenda at the moment. Continue
Luke 8:47–48 NASB95
47 When the woman saw that she had not escaped notice, she came trembling and fell down before Him, and declared in the presence of all the people the reason why she had touched Him, and how she had been immediately healed. 48 And He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace.”
How did she get healed? Her faith made her whole. Was it God’s will to heal her? Would she have received her healing without faith? What was Jesus’ part? He was a walking vessel of God’s power. Going to pour out, or be drawn from. So are we. Jesus declares Go in Peace: which means? set at one again.
Analyze: Multitudes pressing in against him. Were they getting healed? One woman, touches him with her faith and she is not only healed, she is made whole. 39 times. 19 times a person’s faith is identified as the agent of healing.
Matthew 9:23–25 NASB95
23 When Jesus came into the official’s house, and saw the flute-players and the crowd in noisy disorder, 24 He said, “Leave; for the girl has not died, but is asleep.” And they began laughing at Him. 25 But when the crowd had been sent out, He entered and took her by the hand, and the girl got up.
How much faith is the girl releasing? NONE. She is healed by Jesus’ grace (gift) of miracles, and grace (gifts) of healing & Jairus’ grace (gift) of supernatural faith (explain) .
There are times when a supernatural gift is released. There are times when simple faith is required. It is always God’s will.
The Tough Cases. (My people are Silenced, because they don’t know what to do.)
Mark 8:22–25 NASB95
22 And they came to Bethsaida. And they brought a blind man to Jesus and implored Him to touch him. 23 Taking the blind man by the hand, He brought him out of the village; and after spitting on his eyes and laying His hands on him, He asked him, “Do you see anything?” 24 And he looked up and said, “I see men, for I see them like trees, walking around.” 25 Then again He laid His hands on his eyes; and he looked intently and was restored, and began to see everything clearly.
vs 22 Bethsaida: Fishing - house. They took him to church. Does the blind man have a need? Is Jesus the right man for the situation? Yes. Something Good is about to happen. (Wayne)
Do you see anything? Jesus? This is the only time Jesus asked, did it work. Read verse 24 Was Jesus having a bad day? Was he low power? What happened? When you are praying for someone who has suffered from a condition for a long time, better becomes acceptable. (explain) Better is good, but Better is not what Jesus is releasing. Subtle,
Tough Case Number 2
Matthew 9:27–29 NASB95
27 As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed Him, crying out, “Have mercy on us, Son of David!” 28 When He entered the house, the blind men came up to Him, and Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They said to Him, “Yes, Lord.” 29 Then He touched their eyes, saying, “It shall be done to you according to your faith.”
vs 27. Crying out? Screaming Shrieking out. Have Mercy: Do they have a need? Yes. They are blind. Are they seeking the right avenue. Yes. Jesus is the healer. Are they asking for something heaven is offering? Yes. I desire Mercy.
Vs 28 With all of that going on, Jesus just keeps on walking. He goes in the house. Is Jesus in a bad mood? Is he operating on low power? Maybe raising the dead girl wore him out? Is he missing God? Why didn’t he turn and heal them the moment he heard them cry out? Life is in the voice. I only do, what I see my father do. Continue reading.
Verse 29 according to your faith....and they were healed. What did their faith have to do with it? Everything. Allen, I need you to really pray hard. What does that mean?
BMW: I am expected to be an expert. The thingamagig is connected to the whatchcallit. I don’t even know what the thingamagig is , let alone know if it is supposed to be connected to the whatchacallit, but I can put them on hold, type thingamagig and whatchacallit in the search engine, and the manual will tell me Yes or know. Once I know what the book says, I can reply like an expert. When folks come with a need, and heaven isn’t releasing a spiritual gift, I can still go to the manual and get the answer by faith. As we grow, this is God’s preferred method of operating when it comes to his children. Faith pleases Him. Why? It is pure trust.
Tough Case Number 3
Matthew 20:29–34 NASB95
29 As they were leaving Jericho, a large crowd followed Him. 30 And two blind men sitting by the road, hearing that Jesus was passing by, cried out, “Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!” 31 The crowd sternly told them to be quiet, but they cried out all the more, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!” 32 And Jesus stopped and called them, and said, “What do you want Me to do for you?” 33 They said to Him, “Lord, we want our eyes to be opened.” 34 Moved with compassion, Jesus touched their eyes; and immediately they regained their sight and followed Him.
Different story. 2 Blind men. It is obvious they are blind. Why would Jesus ask them, What do you want? In addressing Jesus as Lord, and Son of David, the 2 Jewish men were claiming the covenant mercies of the Lord. ,
One More. Tough Case Number 4.
Back to
Matthew 14:28–32 NASB95
28 Peter said to Him, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” 29 And He said, “Come!” And Peter got out of the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30 But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!” 31 Immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and took hold of him, and said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?” 32 When they got into the boat, the wind stopped.
