Chapter 6 — Circuit Jammers (page 134)
Mack's circuit jammers verses fall into these categories, and the "common themes" question is asking you to recognize them. Standard verse set:
: Ephesians 4:25; Colossians 3:9; Proverbs 12:22; Proverbs 6:16-19; Revelation 21:8Falsehood / lying / exaggeration
: Ephesians 4:29; Ephesians 5:4; Colossians 3:8; Colossians 4:6Unwholesome / corrupt speech
: Matthew 5:21-22; Proverbs 10:11; Proverbs 12:18; Proverbs 15:1; Proverbs 15:28; Proverbs 16:21, 23-24; James 3:5-8Angry, cruel, hurtful words
: Leviticus 19:16; Proverbs 11:13; Proverbs 16:28; Proverbs 17:9; Proverbs 18:8; Proverbs 20:19; Proverbs 26:20; James 4:11Slander / gossip / talebearing
: Proverbs 9:7-8; Proverbs 13:1; Proverbs 14:6; Proverbs 15:12Mocking / scoffing / sarcasm
: Proverbs 27:2; James 4:16Boasting / pride in speech
: Philippians 2:14; 1 Corinthians 10:10; James 5:9Complaining / grumbling
The common theme to identify: every category reflects a heart issue (Luke 6:45, Matthew 12:34) that uses words to tear down rather than build up, contrary to Ephesians 4:29.
