Four Promises about Jesus
1.
14 The Lord God said to the serpent,
“Because you have done this,
cursed are you above all livestock
and above all beasts of the field;
on your belly you shall go,
and dust you shall eat
all the days of your life.
15 I will put enmity between you and the woman,
and between your offspring and her offspring;
he shall bruise your head,
and you shall bruise his heel.”
He will defeat Satan.
2.
12 Therefore I will divide him a portion with the many,
and he shall divide the spoil with the strong,
because he poured out his soul to death
and was numbered with the transgressors;
yet he bore the sin of many,
and makes intercession for the transgressors.
He will defeat sin.
3.
6 For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given;
and the government shall be upon his shoulder,
and his name shall be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of his government and of peace
there will be no end,
on the throne of David and over his kingdom,
to establish it and to uphold it
with justice and with righteousness
from this time forth and forevermore.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.
He will bring Peace.
4.
13 “I saw in the night visions,
and behold, with the clouds of heaven
there came one like a son of man,
and he came to the Ancient of Days
and was presented before him.
14 And to him was given dominion
and glory and a kingdom,
that all peoples, nations, and languages
should serve him;
his dominion is an everlasting dominion,
which shall not pass away,
and his kingdom one
that shall not be destroyed.
We will be with Him Forever

Prophecies = Promises especially when it comes to Jesus
One scholar counted 332 prophecies that Jesus fulfilled
The rest will be fulfilled during his second coming
Matthew 16:13–20
“13 Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?”
Son of Man Daniel 7:13-14 reference.
This was Jesus’ favorite name for himself.
Fully God and Fully Man
14 And they said, “Some say John the Baptist, others say Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
Many other religions consider Jesus a great man, teacher or prophet.
15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”
We all have to answer this question.
One day it will be too late to answer.
16 Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
Peter confessed Jesus is the Messiah
Peter confessed Jesus is God’s Son
Christ. Official title given to Jesus in the NT. It signifies his office as anointed Savior and alludes to his spiritual qualifications for the task of saving his people. The word derives from Greek Christos, which translates Hebrew Messiah (Jn 1:41). Both terms come from verbs meaning “to anoint with sacred oil”; hence as titles they mean “the anointed one.”
9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
17 And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven.
The Holy Spirit reveals Christ to the unbeliever. This is the beginning of Faith.
18 And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
petros - little rock
petra - quarry
11 For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
4 As you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious, 5 you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”
This statement sets up the apostles ministry that God uses to establish His Church.
20 Then he strictly charged the disciples to tell no one that he was the Christ.”
Matthew 16:21 “21 From that time Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised.”
