Good Morning!
Men, it’s that time of year again. I’ll be working on the meditation schedule for Jun to Dec. Be on the lookout for a Flocknote on that this week, and respond as soon as possible so I can get the schedule out. If you aren’t on the current rotation and want to deliver one or two, let me know!
They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
That passage, in the NIV, has the heading “The Fellowship of Believers,” and I think it paints a pretty good picture for us to imitate. Yesterday, I think, was a good example of the kinds of activities it speaks to. We had our first meeting of the Battalion, our name for the group of men who intend to meet on the 5th Saturdays. Craig cooked for us, more than a dozen men. We had a time of fellowship, and spent some time considering what it means to be a group like that. It might be a resource from which to draw for service projects etc. We spent some time in prayer, and it’s our hope that we can include more men from within and outside our congregation. Afterwards, I saw Mike doing the mowing, and a few of us got familiar with our new tractor. We were able to purchase it not only because of the generosity of our congregation in general, but also because someone donated an older tractor we were able to trade in. There are so many who give up their personal time to contribute to the activities here at CCAA, not only weekly services, but for all the special events as well.
Every day I thank God for the faithfulness of this congregation and here today I want to thank you all as well. The Fellowship of Believers as a concept is certainly not lost on this congregation. I’ll leave you with this exhortation from Paul:
Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
Let’s Pray
