For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.
We are born with one nature, one of sin that, desires to satisfy the flesh.
We are born with one nature, one of sin that, desires to satisfy the flesh.
We call this original sin
It is selfish, self centered, opposed to God and downright evil.
When the Christian is born again, he is given a new nature.
When the Christian is born again, he is given a new nature.
one that Loves God, and seeks for the good of others.
The new nature does not get rid of the old one
The new nature does not get rid of the old one
The Christian walk is a battle between the two natures
The old nature never goes away and is always trying to regain prominence
This is our fight all our lives.
Looking at it, it sounds hard
“I Have to fight this battle for the rest of my life”
“I Have to fight this battle for the rest of my life”
Thats where we get things wrong
All you ever brought into this fight was the old nature we’re fighting
All you ever brought into this fight was the old nature we’re fighting
Yes, the old nature is there, still fighting for prominence
While it is still there, it has been defeated
God is the one who brought the new nature and He is the one empowering it.
So as we fight this fight, we must remember to seek God for strength, through His Word, and through Constant prayer, knowing that we are fighting with the remains of a defeated enemy, soon to be nevermore.
