Fulfilling Righteousness and Granting Righteousness
Big Idea: Jesus fulfills all righteousness in order to credit righteousness to all those who by faith repent and believe.
- Jesus affirms the sufficiency of scripture.
- Jesus affirmed the inspiration, inerrancy, infallibility, and authority of the Old Testament.
- You cannot accurately affirm the sufficiency of Christ without affirming the authority of scripture.
- Jesus delivers a complete salvation. V.18
- Jesus fulfills the Law.
- Jesus fulfills prophecy.
- Doctrine determines discipleship. V19
- Imperfect doctrine does not forfeit a complete salvation.
- Delighting in doctrine (hearing and doing) determines discipleship.
- Righteousness must be a gift that is received because it is not a wage that is earned.
- The sin of unbelievers exceeds their own righteousness.
- Based upon the Cross and the Empty Tomb, only the sinlessness and sufficiency of Jesus is greater than all my sin.
