The Joshua Generation

Joshua 1:1–2 NKJV
After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, it came to pass that the Lord spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ assistant, saying: “Moses My servant is dead. Now therefore, arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them—the children of Israel.
Joshua 1:1-2 (NKJV)

Four Generations

The Egypt Generation
The Moses Generation
The Wilderness Generation
The Joshua Generation

The Egypt Generation

This is the generation who lived in Egypt.
They lived like slaves.
They thought like slaves.
They worked like slaves.
They acted like slaves.
They were slaves.

The Moses Generation

This is the generation of divine intervention.
It was the generation of THE NAME (YAHWEH).
It was the generation of God’s restored presence.
No one talked to God face to face like Moses.
It was the generation of breakthrough.
God heard their groanings and prayers.
It was the generation of signs, wonders, and miracles.
It was the generation of redemption.
It was a generation of deliverance.
It was a generation of betrothal to God.
It was a generation of the Law of God.
It was a generation of types and shadows.
It was a generation of new beginnings.
It was a generation of fresh opportunities.
It was a generation intended to fulfill God’s promises to former generations.

The Wilderness Generation

This was the generation of testing.
It was the generation that failed the test.
It was the generation of fear and wavering faith.
It was the generation consumed with worldly appetites.
It was the generation of compromise.
It was a generation of mixture with past idolatry.
It was a generation of unbelief, backsliding, and rebellion.
It was the generation of murmuring and complaining.
It was the generation of looking back.
It was the generation of opportunity lost.
It was the generation that fell short of inheriting the promise of God.

The Joshua Generation

This generation was not satisfied with living in the wilderness.
It was the generation who wanted to move from shadow to substance.
It was the generation that embraced its identity as the people of God.
It was the generation that followed God’s presence.
It was the generation that obeyed God’s commandments.
It was the generation that stopped looking back.
It was the generation that looked forward in faith.
It was the generation that wanted to inherit the Promised Land.
It was the generation of vision.
It was the generation of courage.
It was the generation of commitment.
It was the generation that stopped undermining and started uniting.
It was the generation that possessed the land.
