Heavenly Father,

Today we gather in Your presence with grateful hearts to witness a sacred covenant.

Thank You for the gift of love that has drawn these two lives together.

As they stand before You and before those who love them, may they be mindful that

marriage is more than a promise between two people

it is a covenant made in Your sight.

May their love reflect

Your faithfulness,

their devotion mirror Your grace,

and their hearts remain tender toward one another

through every season of life.

Fill this moment with Your presence,

Your joy,

and Your blessing.

that You be honored in all that is said and done today.

Ceremony

Pastor speaks:

Story of how COUPLE met.

Every great marriage has a beginning, and Lincoln and Paola's story began at a friend's son's birthday party at Japonesa Sushi Restaurant.

It wasn't a romantic dinner or a carefully planned first date.

It was simply a group of friends gathered together,

enjoying good food, laughter, and conversation.

During the evening, Lincoln and Paola found themselves talking for much of the night.

In fact, Paola later joked that she realized she had been 'interviewed' because Lincoln had asked her so many questions.

As life would have it, six months passed before their story took its next step.

During the first week of June, Lincoln invited Paola out to dinner to celebrate her birthday.

What started as a simple birthday dinner became something much more.

The conversation was easy,

the connection was natural, and

by the end of the evening Lincoln asked Paola if she would like to spend a weekend with him on his boat later that month.

Without hesitation, she said yes.

Lincoln then smiled and asked, 'Don't you want to see the boat first before you answer?'

Paola laughed and replied, 'Sure.'

That Sunday, they headed out on the boat together, cruising through Deception Pass and making their way to La Conner for lunch.

What seemed like a simple afternoon on the water became the beginning of a relationship built on

friendship,

adventure,

laughter, and

a genuine enjoyment of each other's company.

From that day forward, they discovered how naturally life fit together.

Through family, friends, travel, and countless adventures, their relationship continued to grow and deepen.

And today, that journey has brought them here,

surrounded by the people who love them most,

as they make a lifelong commitment to one another.

Marriage as a Gift from God

Pastor speaks:

Marriage is one of God's good gifts to humanity. Before there was sin, before there was brokenness, and before there was any need for redemption, God established marriage.

In the Garden of Eden, God saw that it was not good for man to be alone, and He brought the woman to the man.

Marriage was God’s idea, God’s design, and God’s gift.

The Bible teaches that marriage is more than a legal agreement or a social arrangement.

It is a covenant—a sacred promise made before God.

Today, as you exchange your vows, you are not merely expressing your love for one another;

you are entering into a covenant of lifelong faithfulness.

You are promising to walk together

through joy and sorrow,

abundance and hardship,

health and sickness,

for as long as God grants you life, together.

Yet marriage is also one of God's greatest blessings.

Through it, two lives become one.

You become companions,

encouragers,

servants, and

friends.

You share life's burdens

and multiply life's joys.

In a world where many things change,

marriage provides a place of

commitment,

security, and

love.

Most importantly, Christian marriage points beyond itself.

The biblical, covenantal love of a husband and wife is meant to reflect the faithful love of Christ for His church.

As you love one another with patience, grace, forgiveness, and sacrifice,

you bear witness to the goodness of God

and the power of His love.

Today we celebrate not only your love for one another,

but also God's gracious gift of marriage.

May He strengthen your covenant,

deepen your love, and

fill your home with His presence and blessing

in the years to come.

Unity Candle Ceremony

Today, [LINCOLN] and [PAOLA] will light the Unity Candle as a symbol of the union God has established between them.

The two individual candles represent two distinct lives, two families, and two journeys that God has graciously brought together. The center candle reminds us that marriage is not merely the joining of two people, but a covenant in which two lives are united by God's design and purpose.

As they light this candle together, may it serve as a reminder that they are called to walk together in love, faithfulness, and devotion to Christ. Though each remains a unique person, they now share one life, one home, and one covenant before God.

As the Scriptures declare, "Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh" (Genesis 2:24).

[Pause and gesture toward the candle.]

Marriage Blessing & Encouragement

Today you have made sacred promises before God and these witnesses. You have entered into a covenant that is both a gift and a calling.

In the years ahead, cherish one another. Be quick to forgive, eager to encourage, and faithful in every season of life. Rejoice together in times of blessing, stand together in times of trial, and never cease to show one another the grace that Christ has shown to you.

Build your home upon the foundation of God's Word. Pray together, worship together, and seek the Lord together. Let your marriage be marked by love, patience, kindness, humility, and faithfulness.

May your love deepen with the passing years. May your home be filled with joy and peace. May God strengthen you when you are weak, guide you when you are uncertain, and bless you with many reasons to give thanks.

And may your marriage reflect the faithful love of Christ for His church, bringing glory to God and blessing to all whose lives you touch.
