INTRO—

The book…or the movie — Don’t spoil it by telling me…how it ends.
That might be true of these (except those books/movies about historical events!), BUT…the ENCOURAGEMENT of our FAITH comes from knowing & remembering & reminding ourselves of the facts about what the Bible says about The Day of The Lord.
(HEY, Y’ALL…) YOU KNOW ABOUT THE DAY!
1 Thessalonians 5:1 “About the times and the seasons: Brothers and sisters, you do not need anything to be written to you.”
…as the Thessalonians thought about the Day of the Lord, Paul took the opportunity two emphasize two significant impacts of the promise of this truth:
1 Thessalonians 4.13-18 = The Fate of the Dead (Bereavement)
1 Thessalonians 5.1-11 = The Responsibility of the Living (Judgment)
(YOU’RE) NOT UNAWARE. [1 Thessalonians 5.2-4]
(YOU’RE) NOT UNAWARE. [1 Thessalonians 5.2-4]
‘Not unaware’ …
You—YOU—know! (5.2)

“Peace & security” (sounds too much like what some politicians want to claim in our day!)
You are not in the dark! (5.4)
No surprise, shock.

(YOU) HAVE AN APPOINTMENT. [1 Thessalonians 5.9-10]
(YOU) HAVE AN APPOINTMENT. [1 Thessalonians 5.9-10]
Our appointment…(Set by GOD!)
‘Not appoint us to wrath’ (Has implications for when the rapture will occur.)
‘To obtain salvation’
Through Jesus…who died for us.
‘We may live together with him’ (Whether awake or asleep)
**You need to put this in your date book, day planner, phone reminders app: “I am saved and heading for the completion of that salvation, too!” (Gospel)

BODY OF CHRIST (Bread)
1 Corinthians 11:23–24 “For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: On the night when he was betrayed, the Lord Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, broke it,
and said, “This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.””
BLOOD OF CHRIST (Cup)
1 Corinthians 11:25 “In the same way also he took the cup, after supper,
and said, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.””
PROMISE OF CHRIST
1 Corinthians 11:26 “For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.”
Therefore encourage one another and build each other up as you are already doing.
