Tonight is the first Wednesday night of the month, so it is our monthly prayer meeting, and I want to take a moment to lean into that before we split up into our men’s and women’s groups.
All throughout the Bible, we see this principle of prayer, where people just like us came into the presence of God. Outside of the Word of God itself, prayer is the most repeated, consistent, significant catalyst of God’s people. When God’s people prayed, Godly things happened. Prayer became the channel of blessing in which God used to bring about His will upon the earth.
And that is important to understand. Prayer is not about getting our will done in heaven, but rather about accomplishing God’s will on earth. The posture of prayer is one of humbleness. When we come before the Lord, we come naked and broken. We come to Him with nothing, because He is everything.
When we pray, our main goal is to align ourselves with Him. Our heart is to be burdened by what burdens His heart. His will is to become our will. His desire is to be our desire. We are to lean into His purpose for our lives.
With that being said, prayer should be of utmost importance. It is not something to take lightly, but rather an opportunity to come into the presence of God and become more like Him.
And as we do that, God reveals Himself to us in various ways. So let’s take this time seriously. Let’s use this time to be aligned with the Heavenly Father, and to be transformed by His will.
I want each group to follow the Acts model of prayer tonight: Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, & Supplication. Take some time with each of these categories, and work through them at your own pace.
Let me lead us off: Let’s pray!!!
