Intro

Last week Pastor Michael began walking us through chapter 4 and the seasons that we find ourselves needing to practice watchfulness.
And what we have to realize is that these so-called seasons encompass every moment of your life.
If you are not in one season, you are in another.
The watch and fight may look different.
But it is ongoing and ever before us.
We’ve already talked about times of prosperity.
Whether that’s financial prosperity or simply your circumstances are bright skies and sunshine, prosperity can dull our sense of needing to be watchful.
We also talked about solitude.
Are you watchful over yourself when you are alone?
What do you fill your time with?
Are you idle and more open to temptation, or do you intentionally order your time to protect your mind and heart from wandering?
Today, we are going to look at the next 2 seasons: slumber and self-confidence.

Slumber

What does he mean by slumber here in the chapter?
Sometimes we are spiritually drowsy.
We’re tired, we’re weary, or maybe we are being lulled into sleep by temptation.
The siren’s song is very alluring.
… in our sloth and sluggishness, we sometimes neglect the calls of our Beloved and consequently lose the delight of fellowship with Him.
