Passage: Psalm 1 “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous; for the Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.”

Psalm 1:1–2 “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.”
The righteous person finds deep satisfaction in the law of the Lord.
The righteous do not look to the counsel of the wicked, or the advice of non believers or ungodly things for wisdom.
Instead the Godly go to Scripture not just to find facts and information but to find joy.
To find joy and peace that surpasses all understanding,
Because when you prioritize time in Gods word you find fulfilment.
The word “delight” here conveys far more than casual enjoyment—it describes a profound attraction and pleasure rooted in spiritual engagement.
You find joy in the words of Jesus.
Delight encompasses both emotional satisfaction and intellectual benefit.
Gods word gives us yes wisdom, facts and figures and good advice but also its so much deeper than that.
Scripture answers “the why” Why are we here, which is to love God and make him known.
And when you delight in the law of the Lord you receive blessing, satisfaction, joy and deep reason to live.

A strong man meditates on the law of the Lord.
What does it mean to meditate of the law of the Lord? It means to
Ponder and reflect, to think about scripture.
To not just read it and check off a box but to let the words pop off the page plunge into the depths of your soul.
Meditating on God’s word involves sustained, intentional reflection on Scripture—a practice that goes beyond casual reading to encompass deep contemplation and internalization of its meaning.
It means that you read, and reread and take time to process it. To really think about its meaning.
Not just when you read but thoughout the day. Be constantly setting your mind on Christ and his word.
English Standard Version Psalm 1
his delight is in the law of the LORD,
and on his law he meditates day and night
We do this by memorizing scripture.
Memorizing Scripture is one of the most important actions that will change your life.
To delight in the law of the Lord is to read it over and over so you never forget.
So you can remember it throughout the day and so you remember it.
Deuteronomy 6:4–6 ““Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart.”
When you memorize scripture you and writing it on the tablet of your heart.
Your now able to think and meditate on it more effectively because you wont forget it.
