1 The Lord is my shepherd;
I have what I need.
David was a shepherd in his youth.
1 Samuel 17:34–35 “34 David answered Saul, “Your servant has been tending his father’s sheep. Whenever a lion or a bear came and carried off a lamb from the flock, 35 I went after it, struck it down, and rescued the lamb from its mouth. If it reared up against me, I would grab it by its fur, strike it down, and kill it.”
If the Lord is the shepherd than we are the sheep.
We should listen to the shepherd!
When the sheep hear the voice of their shepherd they would come out of the pin.
The Lord is MY shepherd;
Do you know the Shepherd? Do you know the sound of His voice?
The Lord knows what I need.
2 He lets me lie down in green pastures;
he leads me beside quiet waters.
The Lord brings rest to those that need rest.
Sheep will not lay down easily.
Four things that have to be overcome.
They won’t lay down if they are afraid.
They won’t lay down if there is friction between the sheep.
If there are parasites troubling them they won’t lay down.
If they are hungry they will not lay down.
Fear, Friction, flys, and famine
3 He renews my life;
he leads me along the right paths
for his name’s sake.
“renews” can also mean bring back.
Matthew 18:12–13 “12 What do you think? If someone has a hundred sheep, and one of them goes astray, won’t he leave the ninety-nine on the hillside and go and search for the stray? 13 And if he finds it, truly I tell you, he rejoices over that sheep more than over the ninety-nine that did not go astray.”
“He leads” they didn’t need where everything was they just need to follow the shepherd.
Matthew 7:13–14 “13 “Enter through the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the road broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who go through it. 14 How narrow is the gate and difficult the road that leads to life, and few find it.”
John 14:6 “6 Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
4 Even when I go through the darkest valley,
I fear no danger,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff—they comfort me.
Following the Shepherd does not mean there will not be any dark valleys.
Sheep fear of darkness even shadows from mountains.
“ I fear no danger, for YOU are with me;”
“your rod and you staff—they comfort me.”
5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
God provides a whole table of food for your!
Even though there still enemies the Lord provides.

His cup didn’t have a little but was overflowing
6 Only goodness and faithful love will pursue me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
as long as I live.
The LORD in His faithful love pursue you!
dwelling in the house of the LORD.
forever living with the LORD.
Does Psalm 23 point to JESUS?
11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
14 “I am the good shepherd. I know my own, and my own know me,
Do you see it what is devil referred to in scripture?
1 Peter 5:8 “8 Be sober-minded, be alert. Your adversary the devil is prowling around like a roaring lion, looking for anyone he can devour.”
But Christ got in the way to make a way!!!!!!
