Such As I Have

Acts 3:1-11

As we look at this story there’s so much we can glean from it.

When a little becomes a lot. There are so many examples through the bible where a little became a lot. The widow at Zarephath, the lad with two fish and five loaves, and the widow with just a cruse of oil. Al these would be great stories if they stood alone. Peter did not say what they had was less than silver or gold. He understood that what he had was better than silver or gold.

The power of Prayer. The bible says they were going to the temple at the ninth hour. Why is this important , because this was an hour of prayer. In Judaism there were three times set aside for daily prayer, it was the third hour (9am), the sixth hour (noon), and the ninth hour (3pm). So the lame man would dropped off so to speak daily at these times that he may beg for assistance from those going in to the temple for prayer. Then we see they knew who they were praying to.

The power of your faith

For over forty years, this man has been in this condition, a condition that reduced him to a beggar; He didn’t ask for it but this life just happened to happen to him. I’m sure if the local news station interviewed him and asked what he wanted out of life I’m sure being a beggar would have never come up. Even with us today there are some things we’ve dealt with and are dealing with that if we had any input into the matter what we’re dealing with or dealt with probably would not have made our list. But as life would have it it did and maybe just maybe we’re better and stronger because of it.

No matter how much money he was given it would not change situation: he remained lame. Funny how that statement sounds to our ears. No matter how much money he was given it would not nor could not change his situation. We often think the more money we have the better things would be. When in fact no matter how much money you have probably would not or could not change your situation. If you haven’t dealt with the root spraying weed killer on it will give you a temporary relief before more pop up somewhere else. So i’ll say it again no matter how much money he was given he was going to remain lame.

Peter and John reached a place in God where they knew that what they had could change the lives of people, it was not guesswork or trial and error. They understood silver and gold would only provide him temporary relief. However, such as I have would be far more better and permanent. Do you have any “such as I have”. Are you offering band aids or are you offering healing. Peter and John knew that what they had to offer would provide the lame man with an introduction to Christ and a permanent fix to his problem. Every believer should have some such as I have. Such as i have starts with Christ. They didn’t even ask him to have faith because they knew what they carried. You cannot talk like that unless you are sure you have some such as I have.

The whole of Jerusalem stood in amazement after seeing him walking: (Acts 3:9-10). It’s time for the church get out of the comfort of the four walls and start amazing people again. We want to amaze people that are already amazed. We show off our power, skill, and anointing in church. It’s the lame that need to see your such as I have. You’re trying to impress me and I to have some such as I have.

With what is going on around in this nation, it will only take the church of Jesus to bring solutions to our generation. We need to step it up in every area of influence: government, entertainment, education, religion, family, economics, and media. You may not have influence in all of these area but in the area(s) that you do have influence influence that area with the such as you have.
