Philippinas 1:1-6

The book of Philippines was written by the apostle Paul.

Can any of you tell me who Paul was?

Overview of Paul

Persecutor (Saul)

Transformed by Christ

Traveled the world preaching the Gospel

Wrote a majority of the new Testament

and he was persecuted a lot, eventually giving his life for the Gospel

The book of Philippians is a book filled with, and all about joy! But Paul wrote this book when He was in prison, because as Christians, our joy doesn’t come from this world, or our situations….. He is praying for other with joy, when he could be moping and asking for people to pray for him

Everything on earth is temporary……

In this world but not of this world

I would still have to praise God even if he never gave me one more good thing … because I am not going to hell.

Tie in that God can use and change anyone and that is the power of the Gospel

Clear walkthrough of the Gospel

All sinners —> even if we think we are better than others (for example Saul)

Deserving death and hell

BUT GOD

Sacrifice of Christ’s blood

Eternal life that starts right now

The main thing I would like to draw our attention to is verse 6, volunteer to read??

When we get saved Christ begins changing us (beginning a work)………..

Indwelling of the Holy Spirit

Not just “an insurance policy” … example

Our journey as a Christian doesn’t end when we get Saved… grow

Search me O God - Psalmist

God will continue working in us for the rest of our lives

I am also thankful that I have salvation for the rest of my life

Because i don’t earn it, I can’t loose it —> different than any other religion

The confidence in that

THE WORK AND PLAN OF GOD HERE IN THIS LIFE

He has a plan for the rest of your life here on Earth and that is different than anyone else

For I know the plans I have for you

Choosing to live and submit to God (not surrender)

We can try to run from what God wants and rebel here on earth, but that never ends well for the Christian… Jonah
