This morning we are finishing up the series, Unshakable: Running the Race Set Before You and will be in 2 Timothy 4
In week 1 we were encouraged to Run Your Race Unwavering taking comfort in the knowledge we are not in this alone. In week 2 we looked at the disciples who were Struggling at the Oars. Even though they were in the middle of a storm we saw that Jesus sent them into it, He had His eye on them the whole time, and He joined them right at the perfect time.
Week 3 challenged us to serve with excellence in every area of our lives, not for human applause but for the Audience of One, Jesus. Week 4 we are reminded of a liberating truth: none of us have arrived yet. Because of this we are going to have struggles but we must keep Reaching Past the Struggle for our eternal prize in Christ. Week 5 we laid out God’s Flight Plan and discovered that God has already calculated the exact route for our lives, accoounting for every storm and providing all the fuel we need. Whether we are called to soar above difficulties, run through intense seasons, or simply walk through the mundane daily grind, His promise remains: we will not faint before reaching our destination.
This morning’s message - Faith:Just Do It
2 Timothy 4:1–8 CSB
1 I solemnly charge you before God and Christ Jesus, who is going to judge the living and the dead, and because of his appearing and his kingdom: 2 Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; correct, rebuke, and encourage with great patience and teaching. 3 For the time will come when people will not tolerate sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, will multiply teachers for themselves because they have an itch to hear what they want to hear. 4 They will turn away from hearing the truth and will turn aside to myths. 5 But as for you, exercise self-control in everything, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry. 6 For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time for my departure is close. 7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 There is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on that day, and not only to me, but to all those who have loved his appearing.

Faithfully preach the Word of God

Paul tells us to be ready “in season” and “out of season”
We must remain consistent in our message
The message of the gospel doesn’t change based on who is in the pew or even how we feel.
It doesn’t matter if it is popular (in season) or unpopular (out of season) - we must deliver God’s truth.

Faithfully follow God’s truth, don’t fall for the whim’s of the world

Paul warns Timothy that people will get “itchy” ears
In other words, they will look for people who say what they want not necessarily what the need to hear
The world’s truth is constantly shifting with every generation, culture, and social media trend
An unshakeable faith refuses to chase these passing cultural whims
God’s truth is not a trend, it is an anchor for our lives
When we went fishing Dad liked to pull up to a tree limb sticking out of the water to tie the boat off to. Usually, the limb was attached to a submerged tree which was enough to keep us anchored. One time we tied off but the limb was no longer attached...we quickly began to drift even though we were tied up.
If we do not anchor our lives to God then we will find ourselves drifting

Serve faithfully, no matter what

Following Jesus is rewarding but sometimes if can feel like a struggle
Paul encourages us to remain controlled (keep our heads), endure hardship because it is coming
He then tells us that even though it may be tough we have a mission so do it

Holding nothing back, faithfully give everything to God

Paul talks about being poured out like a “drink offering”
In other words, He held nothing back
We have no need to save our "spiritual" energy
God has an infinite supply that He will give to us but even if we exhaust all we have in this life we will be restored in the next
God gave everything to and for us...we cannot hold back

Faith’s ultimate reward is found in Jesus

Sure we will see rewards in this life (family and friends coming to Christ)
Our goal is not recognition, fame or personal glory
Our goal is to hear “Well done good and faithful servant” from the King of Kings
We don’t need to have the largest ministry, the best buildings, the most talented musicians, or even the best preacher We need to be faithful to the ministry and mission Jesus has given to us.
When we look at the horizon of our lives and our ministry, it is easy to measure success by what is visible, shifting, and loud. But an unshakeable faith refuses to let external metrics dictate its worth. Paul wrote his final words from a dark, isolated dungeon. By every human standard of numbers, influence, and momentum, his race looked over. Yet, because he anchored his life to the unchanging reality of the Gospel rather than his immediate surroundings, he could look back on his journey with absolute certainty: He understood that God does not call us to be prominent; He calls us to be permanent. True impact is not found in chasing the passing trends of a culture, but in the steady, quiet resolve to remain consistent, preach the truth, and stay the course when no one is looking.
Over the last few weeks, we have explored what it means to build a life and a ministry that cannot be moved. We have looked at what it takes to stay steady through every season, to serve for an audience of One, and to keep moving forward with a supernatural endurance. Paul’s final charge strips away every distraction and brings us to a single, defining realization: the kingdom of God is built on the cumulative weight of everyday faithfulness. We do not need to wait for ideal conditions, larger resources, or perfect strength to fulfill the mission before us. We simply need to pour out whatever God has given us today, trusting that His supply is infinite. The Righteous Judge is on the throne, the crown is secure, and the assignment remains unchanged. Keep your head, fulfill your ministry, and leave everything on the field. Faith isn’t a concept to discuss—it is a life to live. Just do it.
The Benediction
Hebrews 12:1–2 “1…let us lay aside every hindrance and the sin that so easily ensnares us. Let us run with endurance the race that lies before us, 2 keeping our eyes on Jesus, the…perfecter of our faith…”
Church as we leave this gathering this morning I Pray that we…
Go into the world with our hearts anchored in the truth. Exercise self-control in all things. That we are not intimidated by the shifting currents of this world, and do not lose heart when struggles come. Fulfill the unique ministry and calling that God has place upon your life, holding nothing back, but pouring yourselves out fully for the sake of the Gospel.
May the Lord Jesus give your the endurance for every step of the journey. May He grant you the strength to fight the good fight, the persistence to finish the race, and the unwavering grace to keep the faith. Go with your eyes fixed on the Lord, longing for His return, confident that His reward is secure.
Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, both now and forever.
God in peace to love and serve the Lord.
Amen.
