Trust

trust doesn’t exist without the presence of disagreement

Trust isnt your ability to visualize a desired outcome expecting God to accomplish your vision

Trust is only evident when you either don’t know the way or the answer or the outcome

Trust is only evident when action is accompanied.

Every time trust is mentioned in scripture action accompanies its existent. Holding fast to God’s teaching, going where he leads, obeying his words.

But here’s the thing. it isn’t trust if you agree or if you are sure in and of yourself.

that is agreement. You aren’t trusting in God if, in yourself you agree with what God says - or are sure - in and of yourself that what will happen is okay with you.

yes trust results in what some might call assurance but it isn’t because you know or agree, but rather you have faith that because of who God is, you can rely on His word.

Many people lose trust in God but it isn’t trust in the first place. Trust isn’t just I know you will do what I want, trust is I know you will do what is best, even if it isn’t what I want.

Proverbs 3:5–6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

Let’s pick this a part, because it isn’t just a cool saying. There are implications to this

Trust in the Lord - don’t lean on your own knowlege

This is what I am talking about - If your knowledge says to do one thing and God says to do the same thing - that is agreement. Trust isn’t God doing what you already want Him to do. Trust exists when you can’t see it, or don’t agree with what God says and you still do it. That is trust. So when you trust God, everything you do acknowledges Him - His kingdom, his will and whether you are comfortable or not - your path will be straight - or correct without unneeded detours or getting lost.

Listen there are a lot of us out there that are experiencing a journey that wasn’t the journey we thought but if we are going to say we trust God then we have to acknowlege that that means we might not understand and we might not want to do it, but we will still obey that is what it means to trust.

The problem isn’t that we can’t trust God, it’s that we don’t, we choose to not believe Him, we choose to believe we know what is best for our own lives. It isn’t that we can’t, it’s that we won’t. But it is in the trusting of God that Abraham and Hezekiah. And remember this isn’t a state of mind - it is determination of action - you trust God so you move, or hold, or obey, or pray, or give…trust is demonstrated in action (even when we are waiting on God, we are choosing to stay even though everything in us and everyone around us says to go)
