Why don’t we see miracles as much?

That’s a good questions

Let me offer the wisdom of Dr. Gordon Anderson - one of the best leaders, academics, and for me pastors, I’ve ever known

And I’m paraphrasing

A miracle is an event or an occurance in which unless God intervenes disasterous consequences will occur.

While most believers want to see an abundance of miracles in their lives they don’t want to live a life of such utter dependancy on God that unless He breaks in with His power and might, disasterous consequences will occur.

No one wants to live on the edge of uncertainty, where everyone around you thinks your foolish to follow God’s leading, and yet that is the place where miracles happen.

Most of us want to live at the place where God’s sufficiency is required to accomplish the ideal as long as we are comfortable.

But I would have a hard time relaying moments in scripture where God’s miraculous power showed up when it wasn’t needed.

For some of us, we want the miracle so we don’t have to grind it out, or we want the miracle to have the cool story because we think that as long as God is in it, he will make a way.

That is true, but like Shadrach Meshach and Abednego some times that way is through the fire, or as in the case of Daniel - in the lions Den, or in the case of Paul, shipwrecked, bitten by snakes, shackled in prison while taking the long way round.

When was the last time you put it all on the line, when have you stepped out into the void of uncertainity in faith trusting that God’s hand will catch you on the way down.
