Intro:

So, like in the game, God has given us resources.

And we have to think carefully about how we use the resources he has given us.

We have to plan how to spend them if we want to make them count, like in this game.

We need to be intentional in the way we live our lives, so that we focus these resources God has given us in a way that glorifies him.

And in doing that we are worshiping him the way he deserves.

TONIGHT

We will talk about how we can worship God better with what we have.

Lesson

This morning we learned that THE GREATEST RESPONSE to God’s presence is worship.

We walked through many biblical examples of stories of a few peoples lives.

We saw them worship God is different ways:

Moses = humility

Isaiah = honesty

Paul = Obedience

Woman with jar of perfume = passion

Zaccheus = repentance

Now, we are going to study a few verses like we did last night using the MORPH method, in two different ways:

The first time we will answer the questions from an individual perspective

Second time, we will answer the questions from a group perspective.

So the first time = its about us as individuals and our own worship

Second time we need to consider others as a group, how corporate worship opportunities are structured or handled.

Why make a plan as a group?

Because we are the church, Gods family, and belong to each other.

God intends for us to work together to accomplish His will here on earth.

THIS IS SOMETHING AMERICAN CHRISTIANITY IS MISSING.

We tend to think we can battle against the schemes of the devil on our owns.

We tend to be very self centered and selfish with our faith.

BUT, when we work together to accomplish Gods desire, we show the world that the gospel is true and that Jesus really does have the power to save.

So we want to make a gameplan for ourselves AND for our group with what we learn in the verses.

So the first time through we are thinking about how these verses are speaking to us individually, and plan how we will take what we learn forward into our lives.

and the SECOND TIME, thinking about how we can respond as a group.

Lets begin in John 4: 23-24

John 4:23-24

John 4:23–24 ““But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. “God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.””

MORPH METHOD

INDIVIDUAL PERSPECTIVE

Questions:

What truths are in this verse? What’s the message?

Jesus declares that authentic worship centers on engaging with God through both spirit and truth

Worshiping in spirit means pursuing an intimate spiritual relationship with God who is himself spirit1, while worshiping in truth means approaching God in a biblically accurate way—through Jesus, who embodies truth

The passage also reveals that God actively pursues worshipers

2. What are the ways we could choose to respond? What are our options?

Will you engage God with genuine inwardness, or settle for external performance?

3. What are the possible results of choosing each option?

If you pursue surface-level worship, disconnected from genuine knowledge of God, you’ll experience hollow religiosity. But if you learn what it means to worship God in spirit and truth, you’ll experience transformational ministry that shapes your entire life. Loving God and keeping His commandments opens you to the Holy Spirit—the Spirit of truth—who guides you into deeper understanding

4. Which path should we take?

Choose authentic worship: Present your body as a living sacrifice to God, which is your spiritual service of worship

5. How do we take that path? What’s the actual plan?

Most importantly, recognize that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life

GROUP PERSPECTIVE

What truths are in this verse? What’s the message?

Corporately, our group functions as one body with many members, all baptized into Christ through a single Spirit. When you gather in Jesus’s name, when you worship together, He inhabits your midst.

2. What are the ways we could choose to respond? What are our options?

Your youth group can choose between surface-level religious activity and transformational community worship. You might devote yourselves together to teaching, fellowship, shared meals, and prayer.

Alternatively, you can settle for disconnected individuals who happen to occupy the same space. You can intentionally help one another toward love and good deeds through regular gathering.

3. What are the possible results of choosing each option?

Shallow group worship produces hollow religiosity without spiritual depth. But when a community worships with unified hearts and genuine joy, God multiplies the group and draws others into His kingdom.

4. Which path should we take?

Choose unified, Spirit-empowered worship as a body.

5. How do we take that path? What’s the actual plan?

Think about each other collectively as a living sacrifice

Care for each other, grow closer to the Lord together

Push each other, hold each other accountable

Romans 12:1

Romans 12:1 “Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.”

MORPH METHOD

INDIVIDUAL PERSPECTIVE

Questions:

What truths are in this verse? What’s the message?

Your body functions as a living offering to God—your authentic worship takes physical form

2. What are the ways we could choose to respond? What are our options?

You face a decisive fork: Will you present yourself wholly to God as a living sacrifice, or will you continue offering your body to worldly desires

You can either present your physical members as instruments of unrighteousness or as instruments of righteousness to God.

You might pursue the world’s definition of success, pleasure, and identity, or you might pursue Christ’s lordship over every dimension of your life.

3. What are the possible results of choosing each option?

Choosing the world leaves you enslaved to patterns that corrode your spirit. But choosing Christ means experiencing His life flowing through you by faith—you become crucified with Him, and His resurrection life animates your existence (Gal 2:20). Living for Christ transforms your entire perspective so that existence itself becomes gain

4. Which path should we take?

Choose complete surrender—present your body as a living, holy sacrifice that pleases God, making this your spiritual worship

5. How do we take that path? What’s the actual plan?

Discard your old patterns corrupted by deception and renew your mind’s spiritual orientation, putting on your new self created in God’s righteousness and truth (Eph 4:22–24).

Whatever you do—in words or actions—do it all in Jesus’s name, giving thanks through Him (Col 3:17).

Recognize your obligation to the Spirit rather than the flesh, and actively put to death the body’s destructive impulses through the Spirit’s power

GROUP PERSPECTIVE

What truths are in this verse? What’s the message?

The message to your youth group is that worship happens in the everyday—in how you treat your bodies, spend your time, use your resources, and relate to one another.

2. What are the ways we could choose to respond? What are our options?

You can resist conformity to this world’s values and instead be transformed by renewing your minds (Rom 12:1–2)—choosing to think differently about success, relationships, sexuality, and purpose.

Or you can drift with cultural pressure, letting the world shape who you are. You can present yourselves to God as instruments of righteousness, or present your bodies to sin as instruments of unrighteousness. (Rom 6:13)

Every choice—what you watch, who you spend time with, how you speak, what you pursue—is actually a choice about which direction you’re moving.

3. What are the possible results of choosing each option?

Your group experiences clarity about purpose, genuine community built on shared values, and the freedom that comes from living for something bigger than yourselves. When you care for one another as members of Christ’s body, suffering together and celebrating together, division disappears and you experience real belonging.

Choosing the world’s path leaves you fragmented, anxious, and ultimately empty—pursuing things that never satisfy.

4. Which path should we take?

Take the path of dedicated service together.

5. How do we take that path? What’s the actual plan?

Regard one another as more important than yourselves, and look out for each other’s interests, not just your own. (Phil 2:3–4)

Bear one another’s burdens—when someone struggles with temptation, loneliness, or doubt, your group shows up. (Gal 6:2)

Gather regularly to encourage one another toward love and good deeds. (Heb 10:24–25)

Make decisions together about what you’ll watch, where you’ll go, and how you’ll spend time—not as restriction, but as protection.

Let your youth group become a counter-culture community where God’s values actually matter more than fitting in.

Philippians 2:9-10

Philippians 2:9–10 “For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth,”

MORPH METHOD

Questions:

INDIVIDUAL PERSPECTIVE

Questions:

What truths are in this verse? What’s the message?

Jesus has been exalted to the highest place and given the name above every name

2. What are the ways we could choose to respond? What are our options?

By God’s grace, some are enabled to acknowledge Christ’s lordship by choice. This is voluntary submission—you recognize His authority and bow willingly.

Others will bow to Him because they are forced to do so3. The outcome is identical; the experience is not.

3. What are the possible results of choosing each option?

One receives the gift of salvation by receiving both the humiliated Savior and by bowing the knee to a majestic, sovereign God. Choosing Him now means transformation: the exalted Christ will transform your lowly body to be like His glorious body, and His exaltation in resurrection makes possible your own resurrection.

Refusing Him doesn’t change the outcome—you’ll still bow—but you forfeit the grace and transformation available now.

4. Which path should we take?

Worship him.

5. How do we take that path? What’s the actual plan?

surrendering your resistance, confessing His lordship, and aligning your life with His authority.

GROUP PERSPECTIVE

What truths are in this verse? What’s the message?

Jesus has been exalted to the highest place and given the name above every name

2. What are the ways we could choose to respond? What are our options?

Unit around his leadership

Or resist and still have to bow in the end.

3. What are the possible results of choosing each option?

You submit to Christ as a group, and the group experiences transformation, purpose, and genuine community.

Rejecting His lordship leaves you isolated and eventually powerless—you’ll still bow, but you’ll have missed the grace available now and the joy of serving together under His authority.

4. Which path should we take?

Take the path of humble submission together. Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus.

5. How do we take that path? What’s the actual plan?

Together, present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship, and do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

Hold eachother accountable

Support each other in this commitment, challenge one another toward Christ-like humility
