Believe On His Name (John 1:12) Perverted Gospel (Galatians 1:6-10)

Name - That by which a thing is called; A name may be attached to an individual only, and is then proper or appropriate, as John, Thomas, London, Paris; or it may be attached to a species, genus, or class of things, as sheep, goat, horse, tree, animal, which are called common names, specific or generic.

Genesis 2:19 “And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.”

Name means something different in Hebrew culture. According to Hebrew notions, the name of someone is something inseparable from the person to whom it belongs, something of his essence.

Abraham - “father of a multitude” (Genesis 17:5 “Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.” )

Isaac - “he laughs” (Genesis 18:11–15 “Now Abraham and Sarah were old and well stricken in age; and it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women. Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also? And the Lord said unto Abraham, Wherefore did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I of a surety bear a child, which am old? Is any thing too hard for the Lord? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son. Then Sarah denied, saying, I laughed not; for she was afraid. And he said, Nay; but thou didst laugh.” )

Jacob = “heel holder” (Genesis 25:25–26 “And the first came out red, all over like an hairy garment; and they called his name Esau. And after that came his brother out, and his hand took hold on Esau’s heel; and his name was called Jacob: and Isaac was threescore years old when she bare them.” someone or something that takes the place of another person, object, or role, typically by force, trickery, or underhanded means)

Someone’s name is tied to who they are. Someone can have a good name (Proverbs 22:1 “A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, And loving favour rather than silver and gold.”) This also means that one can have a bad name!

One’s recognition, reputation, or renown. Not a name that rolls off the tongue.

When one believes on his name (Jesus Christ), you are not just believing on what He is called, but on who He is!

2 Corinthians 11:3–4 “But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty (yea, hath God said? = confusion about who God is/false teachers), so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him. (accept what the teacher is teaching)”

The Jehovah’s Witness believe that Jesus Christ is not God the Son, nor did He raise from the dead in His own body.

He was raised an invisible spirit creature. Let God Be True, Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, p. 122, Edition 1946.

In His resurrection He was no more human. He was raised as a spirit creature. The Kingdom is at Hand, Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, p.258.

“Our Lord’s human body was supernaturally removed from the tomb, because had it remained there it would have been an insurmountable object to the faith of the disciples who were not yet instructed in spiritual things. (The Lord's body was miraculously taken from the tomb. Had it remained there, it would have become a major obstacle to the disciples' faith, for they were not yet mature enough to grasp the spiritual reality of His resurrection.)We know nothing about what became of it, except that it did not decay or corrupt. Some Mormons believe that Jesus was a polygamist and that He married Mary and Martha and the wedding of Cana.

They also believe that Jesus Christ was a created being and that he was the eldest brother of Satan.

They believe that the scapegoat that bore the sins of the Nation of Israel in Leviticus 16 didn’t represent Jesus, but Satan. (Picture of Calvary and who our sins were put on)

1 Peter 2:24 “Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.”

In Mormonism, exaltation (or eternal life) is the highest state of salvation in the Celestial Kingdom. It involves living eternally in God's presence, continuing as an eternal family, and progressing to become a god who creates worlds and governs spirit children.

The director/owners of Angel studios: “There are significant doctrinal differences between The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Evangelicals. We have differing beliefs regarding the Trinity, or Godhead. Evangelicals believe in the Bible like we do but not our other scriptures like The Book of Mormon. We have 12 Apostles and Prophets whom we believe receive modern revelation for the world, Evangelicals do not. Evangelicals believe in salvation ONLY by the grace of Jesus Christ like we do, BUT they do not believe in ancient temple covenants, eternal marriage, or exaltation the way we do… the list goes on. Many Evangelicals see our doctrinal differences as enough to even make the claim we believe in a “different Jesus”.”

The Catholics think when they take the Lord’s Supper that they are eating the flesh and drinking the blood of Jesus Christ, constantly making Him a sacrifice over and over again.

Muslims revere Jesus as one of God's greatest messengers. Islam honors his virgin birth, his miracles, and his righteous teachings. However, Muslims do not view Jesus as the Son of God, part of the Trinity, or divine, and they believe he was not crucified. Jesus is viewed as a human prophet who preached the absolute oneness of God and foretold the coming of Prophet Muhammad.

Hebrews 10:12–14 “But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.”

The Church of Christ belittles the precious blood of Christ and says water is the way. Christ isn’t enough. You must have Christ and another sinner dunk you into water to be saved.

Liberal Christianity speaks of a Jesus that is all love without judgment.

A Jesus that ignores sin and understands us, so He lets things slide. That everyone is going to heaven.

The Jews of Paul’s day which infiltrated the churches of Galatia believed in a Jesus, but didn’t believe He was enough! They thought that Jesus and the LAW was what was needed!

Galatians 2:16 “Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.”

Jesus Is Savior

1 John 5:10–13 “He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”

Acts 4:12 “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”

John 3:16–18 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”

Jesus Is Sinless

Romans 5:18–20 “Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.
