God Time Tips
1. Set a Time: Everything important in our lives we schedule. Your time alone daily in
fellowship with God should be no different. Consider it an unbreakable appointment. Let
your time alone with God be the centerpiece of your day. Matthew 6:6 – But you, when
you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in
secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.
2. Select a Place: Find a place where you can be alone and undistracted during your time
with God. Keep your Bible, prayer journal, devotional and pen in that place so that
everything is ready. During your time with God each day, keep this as a sacred
place. Luke 5:16 – But Jesus Himself would often slip away to the wilderness and pray.
3. Sit in Peace: Use any worship posture you want and feel comfortable with: kneel, lift
your hands, or even fall on your face before Him. Psalm 143:6 – I stretch out my hands
to You; My soul longs for You, as a parched land.
4. Interact with the Text: Read the text once through. Then prayerfully ask God, “What do
I need to know?” Consider writing that down. Read the text again and prayerfully ask
God, “What should I feel?” Finally, read the text one more time and ask God, “What
should I do?” Consider journaling your answers and pray that God would give you the
ability to do what you know you should do. James 4:17 – So whoever knows the right
thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.
HOW TO BE BRAVE PRINCIPLES
1. Part 1: Bravery is moving from fear to faith. We can do this if we have the right
mentality about who we are, face affliction with longsuffering, and keep our eyes on the goal of
Jesus’ second coming. 1 Thessalonians 1:6-8
2. Part 2: Being brave means engaging in right relationships with God and others. This
includes having hard conversations with ourselves, our friends, and our family that turn
them to God from a pointless life. 1 Thessalonians 1:9
The Thessalonians' Faith and Example (1 Thessalonians 1:2-10)
2 We give thanks to God always for all of you, constantly[a] mentioning you in our prayers,
3 remembering before our God and Father your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness
of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. 4 For we know, brothers[b] loved by God, that he has chosen
you, 5 because our gospel came to you not only in word, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit
and with full conviction. You know what kind of men we proved to be among you for your sake.
6 And you became imitators of us and of the Lord, for you received the word in much affliction,
with the joy of the Holy Spirit, 7 so that you became an example to all the believers in Macedonia
and in Achaia. 8 For not only has the word of the Lord sounded forth from you in Macedonia and
Achaia, but your faith in God has gone forth everywhere, so that we need not say anything. 9 For
they themselves report concerning us the kind of reception we had among you, and how you
turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, 10 and to wait for his Son from heaven,
whom he raised from the dead, Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come.
