Pagan priests would accept animal sacrifices that were the meat portions of the animal while the rest of the animal was burned up. This meat would then go to the market to be sold.
Christians would argue that if the meat is for sale, at a cheaper price, what does it matter that it had been presented to a pagan god first? The pagan god has no power no reality, so why not buy the meat and eat it?
