*Open with the weight lifting requirement when applying for jobs.
20 pounds: Found on applications for light-duty roles, retail, or desk jobs where you occasionally handle small boxes or files.
50 pounds: The most common "blanket" number used. This aligns with OSHA and NIOSH safety standards, which state that 51 pounds is the maximum safe weight a healthy worker should lift under ideal conditions. It is standard for warehouse, delivery, and environmental jobs.
75 to 100+ pounds: Used for heavy industrial, construction, or specialized freight jobs. These positions often require "team lifts" or mechanical assistance.
Safety and Liability: Employers ask to ensure you can physically perform the essential duties of the job without risking injury to yourself or others.
Many of us are eager to sign that application because we want the job and the pay that comes with the job so that we can buy the things we want to buy without considering the fact that we may actually have to carry that weight one day.

Big Idea:
Surrender What you WANT
Surrender What you WANT
Our desires have a way of tricking us. Wants don’t always have the same logic as needs.
But verse 24 talks about wanting to save your life. Doesn’t that seem more life a need than a want. I mean if I am in a life or death situation I wouldn’t say “I really “want” to do what saves my life.” It’ll be more like “I need to do whatever I can to save my life.”
Surrender Your WEAKNESS
Surrender Your WEAKNESS
Have you taken time to really analyze your weaknesses? I don’t mean beat yourself up because your’e not as good as someone else at something. I mean really thinking through how your weakness prohibits you from the great things you want to achieve and create a plan to address that weakness.
In 2 Corinthians 12, Paul is dealing with a weakness.

Remember the job application we talked about earlier? Remember the weight ligting requirements of some of those jobs? Well his is advice on how to answer that question when you are asked if you can carry that weight.
Be Honest: If you say "yes" to 50 pounds, you may be tested during a physical screening or expected to lift that weight on day one.
Request Accommodations: If you have a physical restriction but can fulfill the core job duties with a reasonable modification (like using a rolling cart or a team lift), you can state that you can perform the task with accommodations.
In this life that Christ calls for us to live, He wants us to come with the same expectation of honesty from us. He already knows that denying ourselves, taking up our cross, and following Him is too heavy and too hard for us to do on our own. But it’s okay because He has a solution for it. He allows us to request acomondations. While your physical acomodations on the job may be a rolling cart or dolly, God takes more of a team approach. I like the way the Amplified Bible describes it in 1 Peter 5:7 casting all your cares [all your anxieties, all your worries, and all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares about you [with deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully]. In Matthew 11:29 Jesus says “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Jesus says “Let me help you carry the burden”. Even after he is raised from the dead and is preparing for his ascension into Heaven he tells those listening in John 14:16 “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever.” He even tells them in Acts 1 that this Counselor will give them power to be His witnesses and life out this self denying, cross carrying, Christ following life.
