Transition: Those who are IN Christ are called to be Kingdom citizens who are zealous for Kingdom matters

David was offended by Goliath’s taunts against the Living God (v. 26)

Explanation: David was a young shepherd boy at the time of this encounter. David’s three older brothers were serving in the army and his father Jesse had sent him with a Care Package for the boys. The Israelite army was facing off against the Philistine army. When David arrives, he hears the giant making his daily taunt against the entire army. He listens in amazement as this uncircumsized Philistine defies the Living God through his challenge to the army. David spoke up about removing “the reproach from Israel.”
Argument: all the others heard the same challenge. To a man. their response was fear and a moving away (see verse 24). David had the spiritual sensitivity to realize this was more than a challenge against the Israelite army; David realized this was an attack on the power of the Living God to take care of His own!
