We Beheld His Glory (John 1:14)

Beheld His Glory - to gaze upon something that stimulates the moral and mental faculties in an impressive (and often astonishing) way.

Ex. Genesis 45:7-13 (King)

He “dwelt” among us, and we beheld his glory!

Litteraly “tabernacled”, to take up residence as if in a tent for an amount of time.

Just like looking at the tabernacle in the OT, on the outside, it wasn’t much to look at. But on the inside, it was beautiful!

Items made of gold, the inner hangings of scarlet, purple, and blue and the glory of God would reside in the holiest of holies.

Exodus 40:34–35 “Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. And Moses was not able to enter into the tent of the congregation, because the cloud abode thereon, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.”

Moses wanted to see God’s glory. God only let him see his back parts, but Moses’ face was shining like crazy after he got a glimpse of God!

That same glory in the tabernacle and that Moses saw was the inner glory of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Glory of His Provision (John 2:11)

Jesus provided something that no one else could. (No wine, He changed water into wine)

Jesus provided something that no one else could in salvation! He changed me!

Romans 3:23–25 “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;”

Hebrews 2:9–10 “But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.”

The Glory of His Power

John 11:3–4 “Therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick. When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.”

John 11:39–44 “Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days. Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God? Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me. And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.”

His power is glorious! He can make dead things live!

His Glory As Potentate (A sovereign ruler)

John 12:37-41
