We Need a Powerful Weapon

Satan is our adversary. He is called deceiver, tempter, liar, accuser, and murderer.
Satan desires to disarm us. (See Genesis 3:1)
Satan tempted Adam and Eve to doubt God’s Word. He also wants us to ignore it, be ignorant of it, misunderstand it, and above all, to disobey it.
The Word of God equips us for every battle.
Romans 10:17 “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.”
John 17:17 “Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.”
2 Timothy 3:16–17 “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”
How can these things happen without knowing the Word?

We Need to Practice With Our Weapon

Read the Word
Matthew 12:3 “He said to them, “Have you not read what David did when he was hungry, and those who were with him:”
Study the Word
2 Timothy 2:15 “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.”
Meditate on the Word
Joshua 1:8 “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”
Memorize the Word
Psalm 119:11 “I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.” (see Proverbs 6:20-22)
Hear the Word
Ephesians 4:11–12 “And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ,”
Pay Attention to the Word
Hebrews 2:1 “Therefore we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it.”
Obey the Word
James 1:22 “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”

We Need to Wield Our Weapon

Ephesians 6:17 “and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,”
Use the Word against Satan
See Matthew 4:1-11...
Use the Word against the World
Mark 16:15 “And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.”
Use the Word against yourself
Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”
