Good News!

(Slide) The Gospel is Good News
(Slide) It is the Good News that Jesus wanted all to hear - think Pt:15
(Slide) It is the Good News that leads people to be born again - Jn3:3-5; (Slide)
1 Peter 1:23–25 NASB95
23 for you have been born again not of seed which is perishable but imperishable, that is, through the living and enduring word of God. 24 For, All flesh is like grass, And all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, And the flower falls off, 25 But the word of the Lord endures forever.” And this is the word which was preached to you.
GOOD NEWS MUST BE HEARD AND GOOD NEWS MUST BE BELIEVED!
There are facts of the Gospel that must be believed, it requires understanding and convicts a persons heart in response to the Gospel.
(Slide) So tonight let us look at the “facts to believe.” - (Slide)
1 Corinthians 15:1–3 NASB95
1 Now I make known to you, brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand, 2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain. 3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,

I. Jesus Died For Our Sins

A. (Slide) We must believe there is a sin problem
(Slide) Sin is lawlessness ()
(Slide) Sin is falling short of God’s glory ()
(Slide) One sin makes us guilty of all ()
(Slide) Wages of sin is death ()
Now how about some of those scriptures just referenced
(Slide) - Sin is lawlessness
1 John 3:4 NASB95
4 Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness.
(Slide) ) - break one law, you are guilty of them all
James 2:10 NASB95
10 For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles in one point, he has become guilty of all.
(Slide) - You sin, you died, that is what is due to us
Romans 6:23 NASB95
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
(Slide) Do you believe, do you understand sin and the ramification of it?
B. (Slide) Must believe there is a solution to sin
(Slide) Jesus died for our sins (; )
(Slide) While we were still sinners Christ died for us ()
(Slide) God manifested His love that we might live through Him ()
(Slide) God demonstrates His justice and righteousness through Christ ()
It is important not just to talk about the scriptures but to look at scripture too. We are not convicted because of our words but are by God’s Word as are others we may share God’s Word with.
(Slide) - while still sinners Christ died for us
Romans 5:6–8 NASB95
6 For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die. 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
(Slide) - God’s love manifested in Christ so that we might live through Him.
1 John 4:9–10 NASB95
9 By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him. 10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
(Slide) Do you believe that God loves you and that Christ died for your sins and the sins of all who believe? Can you share that, teach that to others?
(TRANSITION) So there you have the sin problem, the sin solution, also important is knowing other foundational things to the Gospel of Jesus Christ

II. Jesus died, was buried and rose again!

A. (Slide) The facts to believe about the resurrection
(Slide) It is witnessed and proven in the scripture - ;
(Slide) Historically recorded and could have been easily rebuked -
(Slide) It fulfilled the O.T. Scripture -
(Slide) - In the midst of the first sermon the resurrection significance comes in.
Acts 2:32 NASB95
32 “This Jesus God raised up again, to which we are all witnesses.
(Slide) - Proven what was written before
Psalm 16:10–11 NASB95
10 For You will not abandon my soul to Sheol; Nor will You allow Your Holy One to undergo decay. 11 You will make known to me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; In Your right hand there are pleasures forever.
If it were not true it could have been easily proven to be a lie, but 500 people or more according to the scripture saw the resurrected Christ
If it were not true it could have been easily proven to be a lie, but 500 people or more according to the scripture saw the resurrected Christ
(Slide) Do you believe that Christ was raised from the dead? - Can you using the scripture show this evidence to others?
B. (Slide) You must believe the significance of the resurrection
(Slide) Our faith is depends on resurrection - 1Cor15:14-19
(Slide) The resurrection verifies our justification - Rom4:24-25; Mt26:28
(Slide) The resurrection gives us our hope - 1Pt1:3, 1Pt1:21; 1The4:13-14
(Slide) Let’s look at 1Cor15:14-19 together - turn to and read
(Slide) - Raised for our justification
Romans 4:24–25 NASB95
24 but for our sake also, to whom it will be credited, as those who believe in Him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead, 25 He who was delivered over because of our transgressions, and was raised because of our justification.
(Slide) - We have our hope in the resurrection
1 Thessalonians 4:13–14 NASB95
13 But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus.
(Slide) Do you believe in the resurrection? Can you share scriptures with others regarding the significance of the resurrection?
(Transition) So we believe in sin problem, sin solution, and the resurrection, we must also believe . . .

III. Must believe Jesus is both Lord and King

A. (Slide) Must believe He has been exalted
(Slide) HE is exalted to sit as both Lord and Christ -
(Slide) He is the Lord of Lord, King of Kings - ;
(Slide) He is the firstborn of the dead -
-THIS JESUS is both LORD and CHRIST - (Slide)
Acts 2:33–36 NASB95
33 “Therefore having been exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He has poured forth this which you both see and hear. 34 “For it was not David who ascended into heaven, but he himself says: The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at My right hand, 35 Until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet.” ’ 36 “Therefore let all the house of Israel know for certain that God has made Him both Lord and Christ—this Jesus whom you crucified.”
(Slide) Do you believe in the rule and reign of Christ? Can you show, teach others through the scripture so they too can believe?
B. You must believe Jesus has all authority
B. (Slide) You must believe Jesus has all authority
Has authority in heaven and on earth - ;
Has authority over our lives - ; ,
Has authority to command us to follow His commands -
All authority given, all things put in subjection under His feet (Slide)
Ephesians 1:20–22 NASB95
20 which He brought about in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. 22 And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church,
He does have expectations, to do what He says - (Slide)
Luke 6:46 NASB95
46 “Why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?
(Slide) Do you believe in the rule, reign and authority of Jesus? Can you by the scriptures show, teach this to others?
C. (Slide) God exercises His authority through His Word
(Slide) For the sum of His Word is truth -
(Slide) He gave the word, authority to the Apostles - Mt28:20
(Slide) To receive their word - is to receive Jesus -
(Slide) Believe and apply - Act2:42;
Authority given - (Slide)
Matthew 28:20 NASB95
20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28:20 NASB95
20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
They accepted it, we need to accept it (Slide)
1 Thessalonians 2:13 NASB95
13 For this reason we also constantly thank God that when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men, but for what it really is, the word of God, which also performs its work in you who believe.
(Slide) Do you believe in the authority of the scripture, can you show, teach, help someone to understand this?
(Transition) One more belief we need to have, it is our hope yet to be fulfilled. . .
III. Must Believe Jesus Is Coming Again!
A. (Slide) Must Believe God Keeps His Promises
(Slide) Promised return at the ascension -
(Slide) Promised through words of Apostles - ;
- listen to the promise of the return
Acts 1:9–11 NASB95
9 And after He had said these things, He was lifted up while they were looking on, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. 10 And as they were gazing intently into the sky while He was going, behold, two men in white clothing stood beside them. 11 They also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven.”
- Listen to the Sound
1 Thessalonians 4:16 NASB95
16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.
B. (Slide) Must believe Jesus is coming in Judgment
B. (Slide) Must believe Jesus is coming in Judgment
(Slide) Coming to judge in righteousness - ;
(Slide) Not a good day for many, a day of indignation - ,
(Slide) When we will appear before judgment seat -
No one can stand there for you on that great and dreadful day. You will stand there yourself. Great to the believers who are spared the wrath of God in righteousness.
(Slide) - We must proclaim, testify that Jesus has been appointed Judge
Acts 10:42 NASB95
42 “And He ordered us to preach to the people, and solemnly to testify that this is the One who has been appointed by God as Judge of the living and the dead.
(Slide) -Times of ignorance is gone, now is the time to repent.
Acts 17:30–31 NASB95
30 “Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent, 31 because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead.”
(Slide) - are you going to be ready to answer the Lord?
2 Corinthians 5:10 NASB95
10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.
(Slide) Do you believe these things? Do you believe the Gospel? Have you responded to the Gospel? Are you willing to share the Gospel with others?
Just the facts, like the old Dragnet series, just the facts of the Gospel, the things we must believe, don’t be caught without them internally and be ready to share them externally.
(Slide) Be ready to ask the question - - what must we do!
Acts 2:37 NASB95
37 Now when they heard this, they were pierced to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brethren, what shall we do?”
