Text
“which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice...”
Introduction
Confusion over Gender in Society
When God designed the family he put it in a particular order.
He made Adam the husband and Eve the wife.
He made Adam the father and Eve the mother.
Much of our society is in complete rebellion toward God as we have rejected his order.
Our society seems utterly confused about what role a man is to play and what role a woman is to play.
Illustration: Tinder (some debouched hook-up/dating app) now has 37 gender identifications one can choose when identifying ones self.
Fearfully & Wonderfully Made:
No matter what this confused and dark world might say, one cannot simply choose what one wants to be.
We are as the Bible says “fearfully and wonderfully made”.
God made a man to be a man and a woman to be a woman.
How appalling it is that one needs to make such a declaration.
Even more appalling, is the determination by many that such a declaration should be defined as “hateful” or “insensitive”.
The point I am trying to make is that no matter what society is trying to do to brainwash you, men and women are not the same.
All men are not created equal!
Mothers are extremely important and the job they are created for cannot just be substituted.
Men are not equipped to be mothers!
The Weaker Vessel
“Weaker” - This does not mean inferior!
God created a woman with certain characteristics- they allow her to function in her role and these characteristics can make for weaknesses when it comes to the attacks of Satan
Women are more emotional and tender
Women are more sensitive
The Initial attack of Satan
Moms face two tremendous forces of persuasion.
First, they face the deceptions of Satan and a satanically-controlled system which have as their goal the destruction of the home and especially motherhood because of their importance to the stability of society.
Satan's first attack was against the mother of humanity (Eve) and it immediately affected the home.
The Feminist Movement
I think the feminist movement is a ploy of Satan to rob women of the tremendous power of influence they posses.
God has given a woman such a significant and extremely important role to play in society and what Satan has done is convince a woman that by embracing this role she is giving something up.
He is a liar and the father of lies.
Just observe the damage and destruction that has taken place in our so called progressed and evolved society.
Much of what we are witnessing can be attributed to many people embracing a philosophy that is inconsistent with Scripture.
Fathers are the head of the home but mothers are the heart!
Declaration:
Preposition:
Transition: When we look at the faith of Lois & Eunice we notice 2 important elements.
I.
They had a Genuine Faith
“unfeigned faith”
it was REAL!
Illustration:
The most important attribute a mother can display is her faith in God!
A. Genuine Faith can be observed -
Children are the most perceptive creatures
B. Genuine Faith can be overlooked -
Being a wife and mother can often feel unrewarding and thankless
Men- we need to be aware of the thankless job of a mother and wife
Children- do not despise the faith of your parents - espesually your mother
C. Genuine faith cannot be overstated
We value many things in this life but a woman of genuine faith is very valuable
One does not pass on what one does not posses so we have looked at the genuine element of their faith now I want us to notice the second element:
II.
They had a Generational Faith
“that dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and in the mother Eunice; and I am persuaded in thee also”
This faith was transferred to the next generation
How does this happen?
What are the results?
A. Passing on our Faith is Intentional
B. Passing on our Faith is Imperative
C. Passing on our faith is Influential
Conclusion
From Bible.org:
A listener of Dr. James Dobson’s radio program “Focus on the Family” wrote saying that she had discovered thousands of books had been taken from her public library.
Investigation showed that these books were the ones based on the traditional roles of father and mother—father the breadwinner with mother staying at home to rear the children.
Now the shelves were stocked with books that portrayed the contemporary woman who pursues her career outside the home.
The children are at a day-care center and the father is equally involved in their upbringing.
The woman portrayed in that manner is in every respect equal to a man.
The radical feminists have clearly defined goals they wish to achieve.
In the process they believe they must smash the traditional understanding of marriage, children, and religion so that equality can be brought about.
The woman’s role is being redefined.

Scripture warns us over and over again about the anti-God, adversarial forces that are constantly at work to get us to adopt the values and attitudes of the world.
