Spiritual heritage
1Tim 1:1-2
mother was Jewish and Father Greek
taught the scriptures (OT) by mother and grandmother (2Tim 1:5)
Paul’s “true child” in the faith
introduced to Jesus through Paul’s ministry in Lystra on mission 1
grew in the Lord and was ready for inclusion in mission 2 *(Acts 15:36-41)
well thought-of by brothers in Christ in Lystra and Iconium (Acts 16:2)
COMMITTED servant of the Lord (Acts 16:3)
Entrusted with Responsibility
deployed by Paul for separate mission with Erastus to Macedonia (Acts 19:22)
Went from Macedonia to Corinth on Paul’s behalf
possibly a timid person because Paul encourages the Corinthians to make him feel welcome (1Cor 16:10-11; 1Tim 4:12)
was Timothy learning to overcome his natural tendencies in order to effectively serve the Lord?
A trusted companion
Accompanied Paul to Jerusalem (Acts 20:4-5)
With Paul in Rome when he wrote 3 of the prison epistles (Phil. Col. Phile.)
