In the middle of the garden he placed the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

16 But the LORD God warned him, “You may freely eat the fruit of every tree in the garden—17 except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If you eat iEvangelism 1ts fruit, you are sure to die.”

But they ate the fruit....

They were banished from the Garden of Eden
Isa. 59:2
It’s your sins that have cut you off from God. Because of your sins, he has turned away and will not listen anymore
Not only separates you from God but sin gives death
Rom 6:23
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.
—Inspite of what man have done , God took the initiative to restore us.
Jesus lived a perfect sinless life
He died on the cross to bear the penalty of our sin

He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

In summary
- we sin and got separated
- God gave his Son to be a sacrifice for sin
