"We live in a world that loves options. When you buy a car, you choose the trim. When you order a coffee, you choose the milk, the pumps of syrup, “would you like that iced or hot?”. We’ve been conditioned to believe that mostly everything in life is a menu of choices. And unfortunately, we’ve brought that same 'menu mentality' into our faith.

For example, what comes to mind when you hear the word, “BOLD.” Or how about “SPIRITUAL BOLDNESS.”

You might be thinking:

Pastors are bold — Pastor Junior He’s a great example of boldness.

Evangelists are bold

Aplogists are bold — Wes Huff and Godlogic

Most of us are think of everyone else but ourselves.

“Pastor David, only extroverts can do that kind of work.”

Boldness is not option for just the extroverts.

It’s not an option for just the street evangelists”

But Pastor David, Times have changed you can really offend somebody today if you openly share the Gospel. It’s better to just keep it to ourselves. Hmm.

Listen closely. I came to tell you today that when it comes to living for God,

Boldness is not an item on a menu.

It’s not an optional upgrade.

It’s a calling. And it’s a calling with your name on it."

I want to talk to you today about BOLDNESS. Living BOLD for the LORD. Sometimes we gotta challenge what we say we believe. Is our faith superficial or is .. or is it supernatural?

Is our faith just something we wear like a Sunday jacket, or is it the very oxygen we breathe on Monday morning?

It’s easy to say we believe when the worship music is playing, but superficial faith begins to fade the moment it meets a little bit of friction in the real world.

God is calling us to a supernatural faith. The kind of faith that doesn't disappear when things get uncomfortable, instead it stands firm, rooted in the power of the Holy Spirit.

When the world pushes against your beliefs, do you fold... or do you stand bold?

Think about:

-the last time you had a perfect opportunity to share Christ with somebody. Were you bold enough to share or did you ignore the call.

-What about the time you decided to blend in instead of keeping a good testimony and honoring God.

Fear, anxiety, and uncertainty are gonna want to take control of your mind, but be BOLD and declare the word of God over your life and your family.

Psalm 46:1 NKJV

God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.

-And what about the time the old habit decided to kick in. You had a choice: integrity or compromise. Which did you choose?

We’re all presented with these types of situations every single day. You’re not the only one.

But listen to this. If you’re thinking about your plans for today or this summer - ⏸️pause for a moment. If you’re thinking about the FIFA game later today - ⏸️pause for a moment.

Bold Is Not an Option — It’s a Calling

Being bold in our faith isn’t about personality, confidence, or being loud—it’s about obedience to God, even when it’s uncomfortable.

Most of us don’t struggle to believe—we struggle to speak, stand, or act when it matters the most.

It’s easier to stay quiet, it’s easier to blend in, and “live our faith privately.”

But Jesus never taught us a comfortable faith — He showed us to be bold. He calls us to be bold in our faith.

-In Matthew 21 and in John 2

Jesus physically drives out sellers and buyers in the temple courts. Jesus says, “My house shall be called a house of prayer; but you are making it a den of robbers”.

Jesus acted in boldness and defended Gospel.

-John 8:58

Jesus Claims Divine Authority

Jesus says, “Before Abraham was born, I am.”

These words directly challenged Jewish religious leaders who questioned his authority and claims.

He spoke the truth even though He knew it would provoke opposition.

Jesus never taught us a comfortable faith — He showed us to be bold. He calls us to be bold in our faith and here’s how.

Go with me to

Acts 1:8 NKJV (after the 4 gospels)

But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

The power we as believers receive from the Holy Spirit includes courage, boldness, confidence, insight, ability, and authority.

The disciples needed all these gifts to fulfill their mission, but these gifts were not limited only to them. If you believe in Jesus Christ and if you have accepted Him as your Lord and Savior you too have the power of the Holy Spirit in your life.

Ephesians 1:13-14 NKJV

In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, [14] who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.

Being “sealed” means God marks us as His own. It’s a guarantee of our Salvation. The Holy Spirit marks us, He guides us, comforts us, and strengthens us to live boldly for God.

Does this mean that we are immune from fear and anxiety? Nope, we are still human and susceptible to all types of feelings, but we know in whom we believe—and that truth gives us courage. He is the anchor of my soul. Fear may speak - Fear may shout - But fear does not get the final word, God does.

Take for example Peter before Pentecost vs. Peter after Pentecost (Acts 4)

Peter before pentecost denies Jesus 3 times, but the same Peter after the Holy Spirit fell upon him immediately preaches to a large crowd and the bible says that 3,000 people receive the word of salvation and were baptized with the Holy Spirit.

Same person - Different power

Fear doesn’t disqualify you. Fear reveals your need for God.

Don’t wait for confidence to show up at your front door. Don’t wait until you feel ready. How many times have we said that? I’m just not ready yet.

Through the Holy Spirit He supplies courage, strength, wisdom, power, direction, endurance, peace, and clarity, all of which allow you and I to step out in boldness.

Boldness comes from the Holy Spirit, not our own self-confidence.

Our confidence comes from God. He is the Triune God: the Father who calls us, the Son who saves us, and the Spirit who empowers us.

The Spirit of God is able to

“The Spirit of God is able to transform, restore, and make all things new.”

“The Spirit of God is able to transform broken hearts, restore hope, and renew strength.”

“The Spirit of God is able to transform lives, restore what was lost, and lead us into truth.”

The spirit of God is in you and in me.

Don’t wait for confidence to show up at your front door. Don’t wait until you feel ready.

Verses 4 and 5 - Many great cities have rivers flowing through them, sustaining people’s lives by making agriculture possible and facilitating trade with other cities. Jerusalem had no river, but it had God, who, like a river, sustained the people’s lives. As long as God lived among the people, the city was invincible.

Peter and John

Acts 4:29-31 NLT (the believer’s prayer)

And now, O Lord, hear their threats, and give us, your servants, great boldness in preaching your word. [30] Stretch out your hand with healing power; may miraculous signs and wonders be done through the name of your holy servant Jesus." [31] After this prayer, the meeting place shook, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. Then they preached the word of God with boldness.
