With Christ in the Vessel
Introduction:
Here in this passage we see the account of Christ coming on the water to the disciples.
The disciples were traveling across the sea of Galilee and on the sea of Galilee storms would suddenly come on the sea and many times they could be very violent.
While they were caught in the middle of this storm, Christ came to them on the water, and at first they did not know it was Him and just like they were afraid, I am sure we would have been scared as well. Stop and think about it!
Something that the disciples did though that is a truth that each and everyone of us need to realize is that great and wonderful things can happen when Christ is in the Vessel!
Outline:
Hospitality for Christ
“Then they willingly received Him into the boat”
The First thing that we notice in this passage is the fact that Christ was not in the vessel until the storm came.
Sometimes it takes a storm in our life before we allow Christ to take control. When there is nothing that we can possibly do then we are like...”Ok God, Come and take care of the things I cant”
Testimonies about people not getting saved until they were at rock bottom.
“Willingly received Him into the boat”
They were glad that Christ came to them. Once they recognized Him, then they let Him into the boat.
Know what Christ sounds like. When He is speaking to you we need to know what his Voice is like. Allow Him to speak to you.
Christ goes where He is welcome. If you let Christ come into your heart, he will come into your heart. If you allow the Lord in the church, He will be there. Are you willing to allow Christ to be invited to every area of your life? Allow that! If you do not invite Christ in, He will not go where he is not welcome.
Think about what the state of the disciples would have been without Christ.
If they did not “willingly allow” Christ to come aboard, they would have still been in the middle of the storm. They would have been in a sinking state.
Look at society today. Look how far we have gotten away from the Lord. There is a bigger fight against the Lord and His word in society today than there is against sin! We have people who are louder for their antiGod policies than for Pro God policies.
The farther away from God we go, the closer we are to the center of the storm.
When you Allow Christ in he gives Help
Help from Christ
Deliverance is assured
The Threat of the storm ended when? Immediately as Christ entered the boat
When we ask Christ into our heart the threat of sin is gone when? immediately!!!!
We are not exempt from trouble, but with the Lord we are promised deliverance from them. (Psalm 34:19 “Many are the afflictions of the righteous: But the Lord delivereth him out of them all.” )
Our Future is solidified
Without Christ there is no heaven. There is no blessings. There is nothing good without Christ.
Con:
With Christ in the vessel your are delivered! With Christ in the vessel you can smile at the storm!
