God blesses those who are humble,
for they will inherit the whole earth.
Sermon Big Idea: Humility is strength submitted, not strength absent. The person who gave up clawing for position already has the earth.
Sermon-In-A-Sentence: “Humility isn’t weakness….it’s knowing Whose power we’re carrying….because Jesus is Enough.”
All right, lets jump back into the series

The Bible is the Word of God
The Truth of the Bible will change my life

We are head on iback in the series ENOUGH, diving head on into Jesus’ beginning words from his longest sermon recorded in Scripture. It span Matthew 5, 6 and 7, and for our purposes we will be in the early verses of Matthew Chapter 5. So I invite you to turn there.
As Jesus begins this Sermon on the Mount, his audience are his disciples, at least at first, at the end of the sermon in Chapter 7, it seems that while he was teaching others began to gather.
But this first section of Matthew 5 we see what are called the Beatitudes. The words beatitude comes from a latin word that means blessed are, and the word blessed points to happy.
And what is interesting that this word blessed or happy sits very close to words like poor and mourn.
And at first glance at least for some of these beatitudes, its hard for us to reason our why later in verse 12 he says…
Be happy about it! Be very glad! For a great reward awaits you in heaven. And remember, the ancient prophets were persecuted in the same way.
But we know from Scripture that we can never just take a glance. We need to take time. Read it, read it again, and make it a priority in our lives so that 2 Timothy 2:15
Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth.
So this morning it is my prayer than I am correctly handling Matthew 5:5
