John the Baptist
Baptism of repentance
baptized Jesus
They Jesus went with His disciples and baptized.
John 3:22 “22 After this, Jesus and his disciples went to the Judean countryside, where he spent time with them and baptized.”
25 Then a dispute arose between John’s disciples and a Jew about purification. 26 So they came to John and told him, “Rabbi, the one you testified about, and who was with you across the Jordan, is baptizing—and everyone is going to him.”
So there was a dispute with John’s disciples and a Jew.
Some how the fact that Jesus was baptizing came up.
Why? Do you think John’s disciples brought this to him?
We have to make our baptisms even better! LOL
27 John responded, “No one can receive anything unless it has been given to him from heaven.
Everything that we have has been given by the LORD.
This ministry is the LORD and He can do whatever He wants with it!
28 You yourselves can testify that I said, ‘I am not the Messiah, but I’ve been sent ahead of him.’
“I am not the Messiah”
I am a path maker for the Messiah.
29 He who has the bride is the groom. But the groom’s friend, who stands by and listens for him, rejoices greatly at the groom’s voice. So this joy of mine is complete.
I am the best man at the wedding not the groom
I am rejoices greatly at the groom’s voice.
5 Indeed, your husband is your Maker—
his name is the Lord of Armies—
and the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer;
he is called the God of the whole earth.
Not only is John not upset he is rejoicing that Jesus is drawing a bigger crowd.
30 He must increase, but I must decrease.”
Jesus must grow in stature and be more know that I.
My job was to point to the one to worship not be worshiped!
Any person who speaks on the behalf of Jesus should have this behavior.
Do you think that it was easy to see John the Baptist ministry decrease and to see Jesus ministry increase?
2 Corinthians 5:17 “17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, and see, the new has come!”
31 The one who comes from above is above all. The one who is from the earth is earthly and speaks in earthly terms. The one who comes from heaven is above all. 32 He testifies to what he has seen and heard, and yet no one accepts his testimony.
Jesus is over everything!
“no one accepts his testimony”
33 The one who has accepted his testimony has affirmed that God is true. 34 For the one whom God sent speaks God’s words, since he gives the Spirit without measure.
You can trust Jesus’s words they are God’s words
“Spirit without measure”
35 The Father loves the Son and has given all things into his hands. 36 The one who believes in the Son has eternal life, but the one who rejects the Son will not see life; instead, the wrath of God remains on him.
“The Father loves the Son”
John 3:16 “16 For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”
What happens if they believe?
John 3:36 “36 The one who believes in the Son has eternal life, but the one who rejects the Son will not see life; instead, the wrath of God remains on him.”
What happens to the one who rejects the Son? (Wrath)
The unpardonable sin rejection of the Son Jesus the Christ.
To not call Jesus Lord is to reject Him.
You can’t just say He is a good person or a good teacher, He is LORD!
Some say that we don’t have a choices. That is not what this says!
What choice will you make today?
