Psalm 84
Kid in the lazy river…
Transition: Instead of enjoying the Christian life, so many of us are like that kid in the lazy river…

Main Idea: If you don’t enjoy being a Christian, then you’re doing it wrong

1. God is good and does good (Psalm 84:1, 3-7, 11-12)

Explanation: God is truly amazing. He is good, and he does really good things for his people…
Illustration: Think of all God has done for you: the world he created, wife, child, freedom, etc; eternal life and eternal blessings…
Application: Recognize the shape of the river—God is good and does good things for this people…

2. He is a worthy object of our affection (Psalm 84:2, 4-5, 10, 12)

Explanation: Look at the psalmist’s heart! He genuinely loves God, because God is worthy of that love. Many of us are swimming upstream in sin, or we have mistaken a love for God with a love for the good things he provides…
Application: Set your heart on God. Use your prayer life as a barometer for your affections…
Conclusion: Do you enjoy the Lord? Let’s delight in him together, with hearts that sing for joy at the mention of his name.
