Introduction

Regardless of what led them to see Moses as special, it’s significant that they had no fear in disobeying Pharaoh. They’re already enslaved, so death if caught.

Do our kids see this kind of bold faith in us?

Surprise — Parents not named til ch. 6 and we find out that Moses’ dad married his own aunt. Ironic…the lawgiver’s parents had broken the law.

Speak to the first-gen. Christians: you may feel like your past is rough.

Maybe your mistakes were made before you even fully knew the law (like Moses’ parents).

A simple family change could impact nations

Again..do they see bold faith in us?

Faithful parenting means being filled with the Spirit, and not just filling a seat.

Faith chooses suffering with God over rebellion against God.

What shallow faith looks like in AL

Here Satan’s work may feel like CO2 poisoning

Sin does feel good and to reject it brings suffering.

The CO2 alarm is an active pursuit of holiness that sometimes hurts

Do I want to fight w/ God against the enemy or fight w/ the enemy against God?

Faith perseveres by focusing on future joys in the midst of present hardships.

Not instead of, just in the midst of

God’s not asking us to be naive and idealistic

Exhortation

You will struggle to persevere with real, transformative faith if…

your identity comes from this culture instead of your Creator

your focus is on the pain of the present instead of the power of God’s presence

your happiness is rooted in temporary pleasures instead of lasting joys

Faith trusts in the provided blood and is aware of the coming wrath.

Passover & exodus was the thing the Israelites could look back to anchor themselves in God’s care for them

For us, it’s the cross and the freedom it brought
