The old creation into the new creation

Introduction

What is the theme of the camp is - “Union with Christ” and what the verse is this theme coming off ? - 2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”

Now before we jump into it over the next 2 days, I would like to share the motivation for me and for us to go through this theme this year was because I think there exists a big issue that effects everyone across all history at least once in their life. And this issue is the issue of identity - the question of Who am I? and What am I?

And we get so confused as to the answer to this question because there are so many different identities that the World tells us are right/true, and it’s so complicated and difficult for us to the point where one day we feel one way and accepted on way, but another day we feel another way and accepted another way and we’ve got different judges in our minds whether it be ourselves judging ourselves or other people judging us.

But by way of introduction to this dilemma that we might have right now, I want us to look at this math equation - surprise surprise ! - 1+1

Let’s say that I was a teacher and I was teaching someone in kindergarten what 1+1 was and they’ve never seen this before is learning addition for the first time in their life.

But then I started teaching that 1 + 1 = 11 and I went through my methodology saying that you combine the number 1 with the number 1 and put them together to make 11.

What I want you to notice is that this makes logical sense, doesn’t it? And to the kindergarten kid who’s never seen 1+1, it will make complete sense because if they are that age, they might have two blocks that are “1” and put them together to make 11 so it makes sense in their head as well, and they will use this concept as they grow older saying that 22 + 356 = 22356 !

But we know that 1+1 = 2 is look at that and go, that’s not right. Yes, I can understand why someone would feel like that is right in some way, but it’s just not objectively and absolutely right. This leads us to the conclusion of:

Truth is NOT what you feel like is right, it’s what is right

And so if we copy and paste this onto the identity, dilemma that we have it is this:

There are people telling us things that might seem convincing and make sense to us, things like saying that if you have more money you have more power, that if you study this degree your future is guaranteed, that if you’re known by alot of people you are popular and accepted by everyone and gain respect, and they will point to people in the world which prove their point and in a way it does make sense because we see it.

People with more money LOOK like they have more power, people who study medicine LOOK as though their future is guaranteed, people who are famous have fans LOOK like they are liked by people and have respect.

But this is exactly the same as what 1+1 = 11 is - you can see how it makes sense, but what we cannot fall into the trap of is thinking that this is true !

Now some of you might be having the question, if I’m asking the question, what is my purpose, is that the same as asking the question, what is my identity? It is not.

Identity is who you are by nature, the root of your being.

Purpose is what you do WITH that identity, it’s your actions that come our of your identity

e.g) If I think my identity is a professional soccer player, my purpose would be to play soccer

e.g) If I think my identity is to be a singer/songwriter, my purpose would be to make songs and sing

And so to be honest, to answer the question, what is my purpose? isn’t going to get you anywhere until you realise that the root cause is what you understand your identity to be.

Therefore, what we will do over the next 3 days is to endeavour on a journey to understand what our true identity is to which the Bible, the Word of God, the ultimate source of truth tells us what the true identity of a person is

There aren’t a million to pick and choose from based on what you can or can’t do, or what you’re good or not good at, on what you feel like is right and don’t feel like is right but in reality and objective truth, ALL humanity and every person is either in 1 of 2 identities.

And this is where we go back to the camp theme verse to understand what these 2 identities are - 2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”

Paul gives us these 2 identities, which is the new creation which is the identity of those that are IN CHRIST and something that has passed away, which is the old creation which by association are those that are OUTSIDE OF CHRIST.

And so therefore over the course of the next 3 days, what we are going to do is understand these 2 identities where we will look at it in a specific order in the way Paul describes it. This means that we are to look at what the old creation was that passed away , so that we are able to understand what the new creation is !

And this is not just for no reason, but Paul explains this for a very specific reason which I hope to show through another example to help grasp this better in our minds:

I have yet to buy a wedding ring which I think usually is a diamond but when people go buy a diamond ring at a jewelry shop and they look around and find one they like, the salesperson pulls it out of the cabinet and places it on a cloth, but not just on any random cloth, but one that is black. Why would they do that ?

Let’s say they didn’t put anything under it, and they just left it on top of the transparent glass cabinet, you could see it, but it would be very hard to see it

Now let’s say they put a grey cloth under it, you can see it clearer, and it might exhibit more of it’s qualities to our eyes, but it still wouldn’t show it’s maximum potential to our eyes.

But once they put black cloth under it, what will happen is that you will see it at it’s clearest, and it will show it’s maximum qualities like shine, sparkle, beautifulness because what they have figured out is in order to show the buyer the brilliance of the diamond, they do so by finding what contrasts the diamond the most which is the black cloth.

And so to copy and paste this onto the theme of camp this year:

Whilst the diamond may seem precious and amazing and bright to some, what is truly precious, amazing and bright is what it means to be IN CHRIST, to be a NEW CREATION

But there are times when we put nothing against this and treat it as though it is normal or even something that is a “given” and so it doesn’t seem to us as precious, amazing and bright as it really is.

But the more you compare and contrast it against different backgrounds which contrast the “colour” of this truth more which in this case is the understanding and knowledge of what it means to be OUTSIDE OF CHRIST, or the OLD CREATION, the more you will come to see how precious this is which is my hope and prayer for us all by the end of this camp and up until the day we meet Jesus.

And so what Paul does is that he lays out the black cloth in front of us before he places down the diamond - he lays out what it means to be the old creation before he places down what it means to be the new creation and therefore we will first understand what the old creation means !

Union with Adam - The first identity

When Paul is talking about the old creation, he is referring to the first creation, the first man which is found all the way back in Genesis in the person of Adam where God tells us how he made him which is revealed to us in Genesis 1:26 “Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

The identity of Adam when he was created by God was to be an image of God - what does this mean ?

An image by definition is a reflection of something else. And so therefore what does it mean to be an image of God?

To be a reflection of God or in a more pictorial form in our minds - it is to be a mirror of God

Then what does it mean to be a reflection/mirror of God - it is to communicate who he is and what he is like, to therefore reflect who God is and this is in fact reflected in 2 ways which relate to each other:

The attributes we have that reflects God’s attributes

How we use these attributes that reflects how God uses these attributes.

Attribute to make decisions

God gave us the ability to have a free will, to choose and make decisions just as how he has a will, he chooses and he makes decisions

Everytime that you make a decision, and choosing to study or not to study, everytime you decide to pick A on an exam or C, this ABILITY to choose what YOU want to has been given by God when he created us.

And so with this ability to choose, WITH it, God created us to reflect in the way he chooses, in the way he wills which is to choose in alignment with how God would. And so how do we choose in alignment with how God would - it is to choose to make decisions that are right and wrong in God’s eyes which is the next attribute we have as humans.

Attribute to know what is right and wrong

God created us to have an understanding of what is morally right and what is morally wrong.

I had a think about this for a long hard time, where if you really think about and wonder, why is killing someone wrong, why is lying to someone wrong, why can’t things that everyone knows are bad be good, and why can’t things that everyone knows are good be bad? It must come from somewhere because the majority of people world agree with these things that they are bad.

Romans 2:14–15 “For when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do what the law requires, they are a law to themselves, even though they do not have the law. They show that the work of the law is written on their hearts, while their conscience also bears witness, and their conflicting thoughts accuse or even excuse them”

The simple answer to that is because God created us in his image, God created us to have an understanding of what is good/bad, right/wrong in our very nature.

(i.e) The reason why killing someone is wrong, the reason why lying to someone is wrong is because God decrees it to be wrong - not for no reason.

And with this understanding of what is good/bad, right/wrong it is to be aligned and reflect what God’s understanding of what is good/bad, right/wrong is which is righteousness against sin.

Attribute to be relational

God created us to have the ability to have relationships

All the friendships that you have, all the family that you have, all the relationships that you have with anyone and anything - the fact that those exist is because God had created us to be RELATIONAL beings just as how God the Father, God the Holy Spirit and God the Son have a relationship with each other.

And so with this ability to have relationships, God created us to have relationships with each other with the important foundation being LOVE. God has created us to be loving beings, in that all the relationships that we have are to have the foundation of love in the same way the Trinity had an eternal love that could not be separated.

And we were created to have loving relationships with people around us for the purpose of reflecting God’s perfect love.

And not just this, but to have a loving relationship with God the Father and us as his beloved creation where we were made out of the outpouring of the love that already existed within the Trinity.

And so we ask ourselves, then is this what Paul is talking about when he is talking about the old creation? If God created us and then even said that we are “very good”, why is Paul saying that the old creation has passed away and stresses that it needs to pass away and why is there a need for a new creation ?

Paul summarises and explains this reason to us in the book of Romans:

Romans 5:12–14 “Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned— for sin indeed was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not counted where there is no law. Yet death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those whose sinning was not like the transgression of Adam, who was a type of the one who was to come.”

Radically corrupt

This is because the image of God has changed from the point when sin entered into the world through one man, and through one action.

Adam used his amazing attributes given by God where using his free will, they chose to morally disobey God and decided to have a relationship with the devil (snake).

And as Paul proclaims in verse 12 - Just as sin came into the world through one man “Adam”, and death came through sin (Through Adam’s action), death spread to all men because all sinned”

And an argument we might say is, isn’t it unfair? Why do we have to inherit and take something where we ourselves didn’t do anything, why do I have to take the same punishment that Adam did?

Well this is what we should think about when this question pops up into our head:

When you are born, we biologically inherit physical characteristics such as our eye colour from our parents, our height maybe, our hair colour (You notice that I have grey hair because my dad had grey hair when he was young), facial structure. What we must ask ourselves when we have the question of “Isn’t it unfair to receive and inherit the same things as Adam” is first ask ourselves the question “Is it unfair for me to receive and inherit my physical characteristics?”

And I hope the answer to that is, that doesn’t make sense. At times we may complain why we are short - (like Taehee ssem !) but even though we complain, that doesn’t mean its not the truth

Similary, whatever your nationality is, whether it be Korean, Chinese, Australia, etc. This is something you inherit from your parents where you didn’t get to choose what nationality you were. And again at times, you might complain why we are Korean especially from that World Cup performance, but even though we complain, that doesn’t mean we are not Korean.

And so in the same way, when we are born, we inherit the SPIRITUAL characteristics of being a sinner from our first Father Adam where if you trace our lineage back up it is to him and Eve. We can why we are sinners, but that doesn’t mean its not the truth which it is !

And so understanding that we are sinners by inheritance, what does this mean ?

By way of using a “mirror” as a picture, what has happened is that our mirror has become shattered and broken which means that we no longer reflect God in us, but rather reflect nothing/darkness. We are still a mirror of God but shattered and broken.

What this practically means is that the attributes are still there but the way we used it has been radically corrupted where before it was used to reflect everything about God BUT NOW it is being used to reflect everything BUT God. Everything was used to glorify God but now everything is used to hate God:

Mentally

Everyone has still has the freedom to choose, but everything that they choose is darkness/sinful. Nothing that a sinner can do will reflect the glory of God - although it may look like it on the outside, in a sinner’s heart, the free will is only in the circle of sin.

Morally

Everyone still has morals, but it has dispersed from one definition to a million different definitions of what is right/wrong which leads to conflict, disagreements, wars, fights where every single definition of right and wrong that is not in alignment with God is sin.

We can physically see this in parliament and government - theres so many opinions on what is right and wrong.

Socially

Everyone still has relationships, but the foundation being love has been corrupted.

People have changed what love truly is where its not “I love you, I don’t expect anything back, and even if you reject me I will still love you” but its “I love you, I expect something back, and if you reject me then I reject you”. It has changed from the focus being on the one who is being loved to the one who loves.

GOD GAVE YOU A KNIFE TO CUT VEGETABLES BUT YOU USED IT TO STAB GOD INSTEAD.

And this is because of the fact that we are born sinners. That by being sinners, our natural desire is to SIN ! To definitely understand this further, this is an example that I gave at TGIF

When we are faced with the choice between sinning and not sinning, we will ALWAYS choose to sin. Why? Because the strongest desire in our hearts is to sin as sinners ! And this will always be the case as long as sinners.

E.g) Think of a lion when they see in front of them a head of cabbage and meat. What do you think the lion will choose everytime ? The lion will always choose the meat. Why? Because it is in their nature to only eat meat. In fact I searched it up and apparently theres a separate name for lions where they are called “obligate carnivores” meaning that the nutrients that a lion needs to survive can only be attained from eating meat.

We want to go against God, we wanted to do what we wanted to do which from a different angle means that we hated to do the things that God wanted us to do and hated God who created us out of love !

And so people are still the image but it is broken, corrupted and shattered - we’re not reflecting God but we’re reflecting nothing but darkness - we are reflecting something that is completely opposite to what we are supposed to be doing and we are doing it willingly.

Inheritance of physical and spiritual death

And because of what Adam as the representative of the human race had done, we as children of Adam,(i.e being in Union with Adam), we now are under the same righteous judgement from God where this judgement is explained to us by God himself and later re-iterated by Paul:

Genesis 2:17 “but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.””

Romans 5:12 “Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned—”

Now what we have to remind ourselves and understand here is that death came AFTER sin entered into the world NOT before and this is because when God created man in Genesis he said that man was not just “good” but “very good” and so there was no sin before the fall and no death.

And so the death that you see around us is a result of sin, NOT something that we as human beings were created to have. And so IF Adam and Eve did not sin, they would live forever without dying.

Now this death relates to both the Physical death and Spiritual death

Physical death where our body decays and we actually die was introduced into the world that we can see no-one can escape. Theres this guy in America called Brian Johnson who is known to dedicate his life to try reverse ageing, and he takes like 20 supplements a day, all these pills, he’s hired 30 doctors, he does the most optimal training and health thing, he eats these superfooods. But just this week, there was news that after doing all that, he contracted an autoimmune disease where his stomach was eating itself and that it was basically incurable.

What does spiritual death mean ? Separation from God, separation from the creator, separation from the one who sustains all things, separation from love itself, separation from GOOD itself. That is what hell is.

Think of the greatest conceivable Bad you can every think of. Hell is somewhere that is worse than that

And this is somewhere that we have been placed ourselves because we sin.

This is the identity of a sinner, of being in Union with Adam, with Adam being our head and our representative. This is what Paul means in our camp verse - the OLD CREATION. I pray and hope we can see why Paul is saying that this OLD CREATION NEEDS TO PASS AWAY, NEEDS TO DIE.

I pray and hope that the Holy Spirit has instilled a sense of immense danger and immediate weight of sin to desire the need for salvation. This depression for our sin and our betrayal to God is definitely not a bad thing but it is in fact the greatest thing we could know and in fact a blessing

I want us to understand that the reason why you might not be happy right now, you might be depressed right now, is because you are believing what the world has told you who you should be and who you are, the world keeps telling you what you need to be to be accepted, and then you try and go do that to see if it is the solution to whatever problem you are having and then that doesn’t work so you keep trying doing what other people say and that doesn’t work.

The world keeps telling you to hope in something that won’t come about !

Of course it would because of 2 reasons :

The world is not the source of truth, people are not the source of truth because both the world and people are stained and corrupted by sin ! And so listening and believing them is to ask for directions from someone who is blind !

This problem that you are told by the world to focus on and try fix isn’t what we should be focusing on. If you try cut off the problem it will come back again either in the same form or a different one and I’m sure you notice that in your life. To address that problem , we must cut the source, we need to find what is truly causing it. And the what that root cause of all problems is in our life is SIN.

And so now understanding the TRUTH and SEVERITY of who we were born as sinners, what the root problem is which is SIN, the question becomes HOW does one get out of this identity because it’s something that no-one wants to be in after hearing that. How does one get out from this identity into the other ! How does one get out of this Union with Adam that we clearly understand and see we don’t want to be in!

Getting into Christ

Romans 5:15–19 “But the free gift is not like the trespass. For if many died through one man’s trespass, much more have the grace of God and the free gift by the grace of that one man Jesus Christ abounded for many. And the free gift is not like the result of that one man’s sin. For the judgment following one trespass brought condemnation, but the free gift following many trespasses brought justification. For if, because of one man’s trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ. Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men. For as by the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man’s obedience the many will be made righteous.”

Paul clearly shows us that the whole of human history is rested upon and fully dependent on two men, two actions, two results.

Whilst Adam through his action of committing the first sin which resulted in ALL people becoming sinners because of him and both physical and spiritual death being introduced and inherited by everyone born into this world.

FREE GIFT - NOT JUST WHEN WE DO NOTHING, BUT ITS WHEN WE CONTINUE TO STAB HIM AND HIT HIM

Paul tells us that by the grace/unmerited favour of God, he sent a free gift while we were still sinners - while we still hit him on his face, while we spat on him, while we looked at him and said why should I care about you, while we whipped him, he sent the Jesus Christ his one and only son.

Jesus Christ through his action of dying on the cross for our sins and trespasses, this resulted in justification as Paul says.

What does justification mean? It means that in the sight of God we had a judgement and a payment to pay for our sins because we willingly decided to break the holy law of God thinking it was fun and games, but this payment wasn’t just any payment, it was a payment you can’t ever pay with money, a payment you can’t ever pay with good works or charity, a payment you can’t ever pay with anything a human being let alone a sinner can pay for.

But when Jesus Christ died on the cross, he was the satisfactory payment - why?

Because throughout his whole life on earth for 33 years, he was sinless, he was perfect, he had no blemish, he had no wrong in him, he endured all temptations that the devil put him through right after he got baptised for 40 days, he suffered betrayal from one of his Apostles (JUDAS HE LOVED TO THE POINT WHERE THE OTHER APOSTLES DIDN’T EVEN KNOW THE DIFFERENCE)

, his own Apostles sometimes didn’t even trust him even after seeing miracles - Feeding the 5000 where they clearly saw 5 bread and 2 fish being multiplied to feed everyone, then Feeding the 4000 comes a chapter later and they ask the same question, how can we feed these people around us? They literally just saw the 5000 people being fed ! And this time it was 5 bread and 2 fish but it was 7 bread and few fish (which I believe few is more than 2) and it was less people !

He endured unbelief in him thinking that he was just a teacher, a liar, some people even decided to say he was from Satan himself to which he rebuked with a simple logical answer saying “If I was Satan and I cast out demons, that makes absolutely no sense, why would I go against my own allies, he endured suffering when he was carrying his cross each and every step with blood dripping down his body, his legs giving out where he looks so broken that the Roman soldiers get this guy called Simon to help him carry it as he’s limping.

He’s on the cross with nails in his hands, and his feet where as he breathes every single breath is pure pain under the scorching hot sun.

And on top of this all, and the most painful to him, he endured the cup of wrath, all the suffering and punishment that we deserve as sinners was credited/transferred over to him and God was satisfied with this payment, and he could only be satisfied with this payment and nothing less.

But my friends, he endured all these things, looking at you, thinking about you. He was not forced to, he was not coerced to, he looked at you and said the only way your sins can be paid for is through the sacrifice of myself for you and I will do it. And he did do it.

ITS A LOSE LOSE SITUATION FOR HIM AND A WIN WIN SITUATION FOR US

And so we must have faith in him, trust him with your life, lay down your life in front of him, give up your life to him knowing that by doing so, have him envelop your heart, this will be the best decision that you ever make in your whole entire life.

And at that point of believing and having faith in him, you are instantly in Union with Christ. You are in a covenant with Christ, a covenant is not the same as a contract. A covenant is an agreement based on love and trust, a contract is an agreement based on no love and not trusting the other party.

But you are now in a covenant with Christ, in union with him, in marriage with him. Wherever you go he goes, and whereever he goes we should go

And this is the first blessing out of many we will look at tomorrow, that as soon as we have faith in Jesus Christ and have given our life to him, we are instantly justified from our sins, the payment for the wrong that we’ve done has been paid ALL by him.

Conclusion

I mention that this is the first blessing because tomorrow in the morning we will look at one other blessing that comes from being in Union with Him which is that it is guaranteed that we suffer which I will say tonight that it is a blessing and in tomorrow night’s message, we will discover all the other blessings that come from now being in Union with Christ.

If I was to go back to the diamond example where we’ve backdropped the black cloth, tomorrow will be to now stare at the diamond and look at all it’s properties, and so it is to stare at our Union with Christ and to look at all the blessings that come with it.

Prayer points for prayer night

Introduction

I want to remind you that prayer is a time between you and God. Who cares what other people think about when you pray, who cares how you look when you pray - you can pray passionately, you can pray quietly, but all God cares about when you come to him is that you come to him honestly.

Its not wrong to be passionate nor is it wrong to be quiet if that is what is truly on your heart right now, but what is wrong is to not reflect your honest self to God.

And so in this time of prayer I want you to not think about how you look in front of everyone else but think that no-one else is here except you and God.

Another thing I want you all to keep in mind is also your physical posture in how you pray.

Now I think the go-to posture of praying is putting our hands together and bowing our heads - not saying there’s anything wrong with it, but if you were to think yourself on people you respect, how would you treat them.

We see in the bible that every time someone comes into the presence of God, their face falls down on the floor - and this is not them stumbling and tripping, but it is the act of going on your knees and placing your face on the floor to show the utmost sign of respect to a holy God.

Now this is not something you HAVE to do, but I want you to think for yourself, what is the posture in which I can most respect the almighty, all powerful, holy God because this is different across cultures, across families and so I don’t want you to think that you have to go down on your face for the sake of doing it but think of what YOU honestly think is the most.

But I personally think this is the most universal way of showing the highest praise.

And so with these things in mind, whatever in your mind is the posture which represents giving the highest form of praise please posture yourself in that way now.

Colossians 3:16 “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.”

Thank the Lord for what he has done for us

1st song - You are Glorious

He is different and holy

That he is a good and loving God and that he is in control.

Asking the Lord to remove what is wrong in my head about you and replacing it with what is right about you

2nd song - Because of Jesus

In front of a holy God, in front of our glorious God, he shines the light upon all the darkness in our hearts. Oh what a blessing it is to know that we are sinful, Oh what a blessing it is that you have removed the scales off our eyes to see that we have sinned against you God, oh what a blessing it is to know that we are in need of saving from our sins because we have disobeyed you, we have thought sinful things, done sinful things all our life and Lord you know exactly what those things are.

But even knowing Lord, you have given us Jesus, you have looked at us rebellious children who hated you and said I love you and sent down you son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins. And you have called us to repent for our sins, bring our sins into your light for the forgiveness of them. And so if we are praying, let us first confess our sins to the Lord our God, bring everything in front of him and lay it at his feet and ask for forgiveness knowing how much we have done wrong.

And once we confess our specific sins, once we are honest with the Lord, with everything

John Chrysostom - “Be ashamed when you sin , dont be ashamed when you repent” Hate sin, but know that Jesus CHrist has cleansed you from your sin, don’t be ashamed in front of Jesus because he paid it all for you.

Transition to thankfulness

Lord but you have revealed to me that I am undeserving to be near you, you have shown me that I deserve eternal punishment before you, you have shown me that I need someone to save me from my sins

And God out of your love you have given a gift - you have given your one and only son to come down to earth, live a life of suffering, rejection and pain for one mission - to save me from my sins, to save me from something I did

You didn’t have to, you didn’t need to, you could have just left us and that would of been perfectly right and just - BUT you didn’t

3rd song - Look to the lamb

Even though we might be discouraged right now, even though we don’t know the answer to anything in our life, to a problem we have. The Bible tells us to look at the cross, because it is by looking at the cross that we see the ultimate root cause of the problems which is sin.

When you are discouraged, look to the Lamb who encourages you with his love, when you are broken, look to the Lamb who heals you, when you are sad, look to the Lamb who brings you joy, it is not you that can do anything but it is the Lord that does everything.

What a privilege it is to know that you are our Father and we are your children. Lord help us.

4th song - You keep your promises

God will always keep your promises, when things just don’t make sense, when we don’t understand what is going on, be being in Union with Christ he has given us the ability to know exactly what the future is. That we will be with him in eternity

Paul says in 2 Corinthians “For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.”

We know that you will bring it about and so Lord we ask in prayer and praises that our mind be filled with this promise, that whatever we are going through we are going through for your purpose, drive and point our minds towards the things that are unseen and drive us away from the things that are seen.

We know that in the covenant that you have made with us, you will never break your side, you will always keep your promises.
