Firstly i want you to read Colossians 2:8 and keep this in mind.
Clement of rome in 1 Clement hints at imputed rightenouness
The epsitle of Diogentus (unkown author) Speaks of the sweet exchange of grace where the sins of many were hidden by the one just and the rightoeness of the one justifed those who were ungodly
Augsutine obviously in his book “On the Spirit and the Letter” and his homilies on Psalm 31
Ambrose of Milan in his commentary on “Jacob the blesssed life” his insists Mans rightenuness consists of God’s mecry rather then merit of One’s own works.
John Chrysostom when Commenting on 2 Coritnhinas 5:21, speaks of Christ taking upon himself our sin so that we could take upon oursevles God’s rightouensss. This in his own words Forms the foundation of for God declaring Belivers Rightoues.
All these men clearly did not have a grap on imputed rightouensess like the reformers, but alluded to it.
funnily enough the whole book of Romans carrirs this theme
This is clearly outlined in Romans 5:8-10
Daniel 12:4 clealrydemonstrates we will know more as time goes on
think of 1 Corinthians 13:12-13
Now transactionalism is the philophsy we will concerntrate on.
John Dewey’s transactionalism—developed with Arthur F. Bentley in their 1949 book Knowing and the Known—is a philosophical framework asserting that humans and their environments are indivisible. It rejects traditional dualisms like mind versus body or subject versus object, arguing instead that organisms and their contexts mutually shape one another. [1]Dewey's transactional perspective (a major shift from standard interactionism) emphasizes the following:
Rejection of Dualism: Dewey argued that traditional philosophy incorrectly treats the observer and the observed as isolated, independent entities that merely "interact". Instead, he proposed that they are parts of a single, continuous, and unified whole. [1, 2]
The "Situation": In Dewey’s framework, knowledge, meaning, and action are always embedded in a specific "situation". You cannot understand an organism's behavior, biological processes (like breathing), or habits without simultaneously looking at the environment it operates within. [1, 2, 3]
Knowing as Doing: Inquiry and knowledge are not passive reflections of reality; they are active, dynamic transactions. When we observe or learn, we change the situation, and the resulting experience alters our own habits and future perceptions. [1, 2]
All the church fathers fall into this same rehotric as do the dogmatic Reformers, They rely on there own Philosophy to interpret the mysterys of God,
Yet the Protestant Legal defintion of Imputed rightoueness ( Justifaction been Transactional)
is correct, Yet there is a missing peice of the puzzle making it incomplete, Therfor incorrect.
Heres the process, dumbed down.
The Transaction is a once off, a once off into a contract. A continuing transaction, this is where the Idea of Theosis comes into play, both the protestant and apostolic view are wrong when you leave one without the other.
Scripture alone speaks about both. We have been made rightouess by faith Romans 5:1-11
we have been made to do Good works Ephesians 2:8-10
but we can not add to grace Romans 11:6, Galatians 2:21
adding to grace is where theosis byitself becomes Wrong.
Lets Harmonize them together.
We have been imputed with rightouness with a once off transaction, When this once off transaction happens at confession (we are then lead to be baptised, Church, commuion, all part of God’s Grace to us)
we enter into the Born again life (now the contract begins) (Theosis)
were The holy spirit changes the life of beliver gradually (Justifaction) to when we die and recived Salvation
The whole book of Romans. (Romans road)
But if we claim we have done these works to acheive Dieffaction (Theosis) we have added to God’s Grace
Which makes it null and void, This is the misunderstanding of theosis, We actaully dont particpate on our own accord.
God does this to us, Consciously and Unconscoiusly
Look at the Life and ministry of Jonah,
Look at the 12 apostles
Look at all the men and women in the holy scriptures.
They actively particpated in rightoueness, But Gave God all the Glory and not at anyone point did they pretend to understand this divine mystery.
the truth is, Mans philosphy is dangerous, Both Theosis and transactional justifaction by themselves are Mans Philophsy, when we harmonize them together, We see the same picture that God has so graciusoly set before us in his word. the old saying rings true Romans 3:4 “By no means! Let God be true though every one were a liar, as it is written, “That you may be justified in your words, and prevail when you are judged.””
When we Argue about the mysteries of God (as if any human is qualified to do so) we divide and act in a spirit of devison Luke 11:17, Romans 16:17, Jude 1:19
We must maintian all effort to find common ground with brothers and sisters in Christ. Ephesians 4:3
we must remain humble and treat our brothers who disagree better then we treat oursevles Philippians 2:2-4
if we hang around company that causes us to become more divisive we must rebuke them twice after ward avoid them all together. Titus 3:10, 1 Corinthians 15:33
