Greetings…
We are continuing our series of lessons, here on Sunday mornings, hopefully building our confidence in “Wanting To Be In Heaven” with our God for all of eternity.
Again, not wishing to be in heaven, but confidently believing that we will be in heaven one day with our everlasting to everlasting God.
Up to this point we have looked at our hope in eternity (Titus 1:2).
And why God the Father, Son, and Spirit create that confident hope within us of being able to be with them for all of eternity.
Today, I want us to look at yet another powerful passage describing the “Godhead” that is found in Paul’s concluding letter to the church at Corinth in 2 Corinthians 13:14.
Paul ends this last letter by writing…
14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
Our confidence of being in heaven for all of eternity with our God, stems from what we read here and what it means for us.
So, with that in mind let’s examine this a bit further beginning with…

There is no doubt that Jesus is considered “grace.”
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
12 And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.
So then, what does Paul mean by the “grace or gift of Jesus?”

It is eternal life found in and personified in Jesus.
1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we looked upon and have touched with our hands, concerning the word of life— 2 the life was made manifest, and we have seen it, and testify to it and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was made manifest to us
When we are saved we are sealed with eternal life.
13 In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.
Therefore eternal life (Jesus’ grace) is…
Jesus’ blood continually washing away our sins.
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.
1 Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
Jesus’ blood giving us continual access to all spiritual blessings.
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places

9 Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God.

There are so many wonderful attributes of God.
God is righteous and just.
14 Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; steadfast love and faithfulness go before you.
God is a providers.
19 And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
God is a refuge and strength.
1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
However, all of these attributes, including God being love, can be summed up in his willingness to be merciful towards us.
In other words, the love of God that is demonstrated in all those attributes and more we just looked at have their foundation in God’s mercy towards us.
Now mercy is can be defined as “God’s compassion for his creation.”
God had compassion “mercy” on humanity when it sinned offering a path back to him.
15 I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.”
God has always offered his compassion for sinful creation.
8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins.

Communion With God
When we obey the gospel and have our sins washed away in baptism (Acts 22:16) we are not just sealed by the Holy Spirit with eternal life, but are placed in communion with him.
8 Those who are in the flesh cannot please God. 9 You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.
10 But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11 If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.

We are continually reminded that we are God’s children.
15 For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” 16 The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God
6 And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!”
We are continually reminded that we are God’s children because of the fellowship we have with the Spirit through the word.
23 Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.
17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God
11 I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.
33 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
We are also continually reminded that we are God’s children because of the fellowship we have with the Spirit through the church.
19 So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone,
21 in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. 22 In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.
19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, 20 for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.

12 Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.
