God’s Wrath Revealed

God’s wrath has been revealed from heaven -> the righteous indignation from God towards sin is abundantly obvious!
Against all unrighteousness and godlessness -> this is moral and religious sins
The world has sinned against God -> if there was a God (more on this later), there would be no way to feel comfortable in His presence
Think of your private life and the uncomfortable fact that an all knowing God has seen it all
The world has sinned against one another -> even if there were no God, we have fallen short of one another
We are all guilty of both types of sin, and this is abundantly clear to anyone with a modicum of self-awareness and humility
This wrath has been revealed to people who have suppressed the truth in their unrighteousness
They loved darkness rather than light, finding comfort in their sin and the sin of the world () Jn. 3:19

Through Creation

God has revealed Himself through creation -> both in human consciousness and in observation
The law of God is written on our hearts, and the sign of a creator is observable to anyone with 1 of the 5 senses
This is proven wonderfully in Acts 14:15-17 an Acts 17:22-31
While the Gentiles did not have revelation of scripture, they still had ample proof
His invisible attributes can be clearly seen -> while invisible, He is observable () Ps. 19:6
His eternal power is seen in what He has made -> the very act of creation has become a mundane thing that should evoke great wonder
This is why it is the subject matter of God towards Job
His Godhead (divine nature) is seen in the clear disparity between God and man
In the clear ways we can all see and sense that we have fallen short of something
“Creation demonstrates ‘his eternal power’ in the very vastness of the universe. The power of a supernova, of stars colliding, the magnificent power of the sun itself—no one doubts the power of the Creator God. At the same time, creation demonstrates God’s ‘divine nature,’ the necessity of a Being above his creation as seen in the very details of creation. The balance of the perfect vastness of the universe together with the perfect smallness of what makes up our world demands the existence of divinity behind it all. From this, all recognize the omnipotence of God and their own fallibility. This is not saving knowledge, but is meant to drive them to God and his word and be reconciled with him.” -Grant R. Osborne

There is No Excuse

God has revealed Himself, but man has hardened their hearts in unbelief!
They have not glorified or thanked the God that revealed Himself to them -> a great issue of man’s pride
Their thoughts were vain and worthless, and their foolish hearts were darkened -> because they rejected God, God rejected them
Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools -> they subjected themselves to idolatry
This is identical to what is happening today with the god of naturalistic science
There is no excuse, only an inexcusable lack of faith empowered by a hardened heart
This is why the preaching of the gospel is continually necessary!
